Disputing a penalty fare

I saw two recently, but have never possessed one. If someone has them, one of two things must be true:

• They have been to a currency exchange.

• They have been trading with drugs.

It is fairly common to see them at university with international students, for the former (I at least believe).

So when we go to US or Europe (or other countries) and casually hand over a $100 or €100 note, I guess they must find it as weird as if someone gave us a £50 note.


I hope not, but it's unfortunately possible.

I think this is a very silly post.

If I were withdrawing a reasonable amount of cash (say over £100) I would request the money as 50s: it is easier to count (think transferring money between accounts, pre online banking/faster payments, also buying cars, etc etc).

I once was offered (and cheerily accepted) a £50 note as payment for a £7 bus fare.

Well, as suspected.. I got a response (very quick I must say!).

"In order to assist us in the assessment of appeals from passengers whose case is based on the availability of ticketing facilities, we have access to data relating to ticket sales at any particular station / machine / date / time.

The transaction records for Wokingham station show that tickets were sold to passengers by a member of staff in the ticket office at 13.45, 13.46, 13.47, 13.49 and 13.50. It would therefore appear that this facility was available to passengers travelling from the station at the time you have advised."

So, if that was the case and I really can't go against that, there must have been something faulty with the door as it would not open (I waved my hands to the sensor too). Oh well, not a tremendous loss 16£, but still kind of annoying.
