Maryport - Carlisle has sub standard clearences. Loco hauled stock was banned for many years and only allowed again about 20 years ago. When 1st generation DMUs used to operate the Kingmoor 108s had window bars fitted añd the slíding saloon windows had restricted opening. When 14x/15x untis arrived not a problem as they have hopper windows.
