I don't think it's that forgotten actually, it gets brought up in discussions in the rolling stock forum quite often, possibly a few times year...

Using the key word "Thor" in the forum's search box reveals quite a huge number of posts...

David Cameron would like people to forget though after he gave a speech where he said how the project would be great for the British economy, unaware that the Voyagers have steel carriages and Bombardier only build aluminium ones in the UK.

True. Though lack of tilt and longer dwell times makes them no better suited to WCML operation either.

All fair enough and has been discussed at length.

Having worked within the railway industry from age 16 until retirement, it was the re-emergence of the thought that I was suggesting 373s for non electrified routes followed by "kings of hobbies" drinking "weak lemonade" that annoyed me.
