To DarloRich and 455Driver I will say this. I was merely asking why the problem could not be overcome given that it was not a one off and that the line involved is a key transport link to the areas to the West. If I knew or could suggest answers there would be no need to post the question!:) I resent the superior attitude reflected in your responses. Besides as others have stated the delay penalties must be very high. I am surprised that the CEOs of the TOCS concerned are not hammering on door of their opposite number in NR. They should be. It is clearly a management failing that nothing has been done about this. Yes I do not work for the railway but I used to some time back and I am passionate about UK railways being successful. I am sure something could have been done if someone had a will to do it. It is the apparent lack of doing nothing that really gets me and the attitude that the passenger does not really matter. By the way most key roads are normally gritted. Sometimes the councils get it wrong but if a road has a problem it is normally gritted quickly.
