Does anyone know the complete list of the destination blind on the South Western Railway class 455 units, with the route numbers?
Here’s the SWT ones on the Armstrong Powerhouse class 455 EP manual for train sim if that helpsDoes anyone know the complete list of the destination blind on the South Western Railway class 455 units, with the route numbers?
On a side note, what do all the route numbers on the via points mean (e.g. via Kingston 32)?Here’s the SWT ones on the Armstrong Powerhouse class 455 EP manual for train sim if that helps![]()
Hmm I’m not sureOn a side note, what do all the route numbers on the via points mean (e.g. via Kingston 32)?
They are still in the timetable data for GW and SW services, although the numbers for GW services does not match the actual number shown on the train rendering them useless. I've dumped the most common origin / destination combinations for each 2-digit code out of it (only showing SW services here, which do match the codes shown on the 455s):Courtesy of the Southern Railway Email Group website:
In the slammer era, the route code was all you had to guide you. For example 63 is a Basingstoke stopper, 81 is Portsmouth via Guilford fast.
Are these codes still in use officially anywhere?

No, but the OP seems to be desperate to reintroduce them, given the number of posts he makes about them.Courtesy of the Southern Railway Email Group website:
In the slammer era, the route code was all you had to guide you. For example 63 is a Basingstoke stopper, 81 is Portsmouth via Guilford fast.
Are these codes still in use officially anywhere?

Thanks for the list. The reason I want to have a complete list is to find out the official list of route numbers still in use today which are shown to passengers today when the train arrives, as contrast to historical usage.Hmm I’m not sure
I think it’s a thing that came about in BR days potentially, then it’s continued on some units today.
319s for example used to have route numbers, but then they stopped using them even when they had roller blinds still I think.

I don't think there is an official route 56 - do you know if the train goes via Hounslow (which is officially route 99) or not?Not sure about officially but I saw a 450 at Clapham Junction yesterday evening with the (admittedly small and somewhat inflexible) front display was only displaying the route number (56 I believe) with side displays I think saying ‘Woking via Richmond 56’ with the number in bold
I can’t remember the route number so probably wasn’t 56 but it definitely said via RichmondI don't think there is an official route 56 - do you know if the train goes via Hounslow (which is officially route 99) or not?
Traincrew schedule cards still show them in the margin, even on non-455 routes. Are these codes still in use officially anywhere?

I once, in the early 90s,during disruption, got on a 455 to Fleet on a Basingstoke stopper. The 1st class punters, and the smokers were not amused.I never made a note of all the things featured on them, but the current blue ones do feature (from memory) some exotic locations on the non driver's side side such as Basingstoke, Haslemere, Horsham, Kensington, Sorry, Special and West Croydon in amongst their more commonly sighted destinations. I think Aldershot is also in there somewhere. The driver's side via points also include things like Olympia (to go with Kensington), Rugby Special, For Cleaning and Not in Service (to go with the other side's Sorry).
Ah 26 yes that was it. Thanks
