It hasn't! I'm going to post a thread with the tours listed so far by SRPS.

This sounds like an absolute cracker, I've never worked an overnighter before, done the FNL north of Dingwall or had Deltic haulage before. 3 birds - one cracking stone!

Lots of lucky Scottish people! I can't do this as the time away from home is too great, but the one time I've ever done an SRPS tour (handily started in England....) was the second best tour I've ever been on.

SRPS also provide stock, Stewards and catering for North East Railtours. http://www.srps.org.uk/railtours/charters-2011.htm - I suggest you check this from time to time, these will be the closest to start nearest you.

What was the best?

The best was last May's Modern Railway Society of Ireland GM tour from Belfast to Tralee and back using the RPSI's mk II rake.

I'd do this tour only I'm doing the 50s from Kings Cross to Glasgow that weekend.

The SRPS did a similar tour in 2007 with 40145 (should have had 55022 at the other end but it was out of service then) Great trip but I would say book first class for a bit of comfort, well worth it.

SRPS run some great trips, highly recommended.

Slightly off topic, I'm sorry . . . .

About 2 weeks ago when the snow was still preventing lots of travel by rail (and other modes), there was a picture on the BBC's web site to accompany an article about travel chaos around Thurso (they always call it 'chaos', don't they?).
The picture was unmistakenly a Deltic in BR blue with yellow nose and a flurry of snowflakes close to the camera. I wanted to post the pic on here for a quick laugh, but sadly the picture was changed before I got round to it.

Maybe it will all become true again!

Sure it wasn't a DRS 37?
