I was meant to be on the 0804 from Haslemere, but due to traffic I was late getting there.

There were two trains to Waterloo after that, 0832 and 0839. These were both delayed, and the 32 left first. The guard informed us we were 21L so could get delay repay. This was meant to be non stop between Guildford and Waterloo. We stopped at Woking and were told they had just updated them to terminate there. We were transferee to the next service which was the 0839 off Haslemere (easy to tell as it was 444040)

I have a regular ticket, not an advance, and a reservation on the 1003 from Euston.

Since the initial delay was my problem - not allowing for all the traffic, does this affect any claim on the next train?
It appears that the 0832 if it was running properly would have allowed me to get the Euston train as well as the 0804.

Quite an annoying question with several factors, but any help would be gratefully received

Unfortunately you can't claim delay compensation as far as your destination on the 10:03, as the 08:32 is not scheduled to arrive into Waterloo in time to make an officially sanctioned connection to the 10:03. Officially speaking, you would only be guaranteed to make the 10:23.

You can certainly claim delay compensation in respect of your journey to Waterloo, but no further I'm afraid. The fact that you arrived late and missed the 08:04 hardly matters: you were there in time to catch the 08:32, had that been on time, and you should have arrived at Waterloo at 09:31. Now it looks as if you are going to arrive at Waterloo at 10:02, so you will be entitled to delay compensation in respect of the 30-59 minute delay category.

If I didn't have the reservation on the 1003 (thus could have been after any service) I'm guessing I would have been able to claim all the way through?

Ah, sorry, I was perhaps misunderstanding things :). You are still entitled to claim for the entire journey - but only for the actual delay to your journey compared to travelling on the 10:23, not on the 10:03. Having a reservation on the 10:03 means you have a guaranteed seat on that train - on a flexible ticket, it means nothing else.

We don't know your destination and we don't know what onward train(s) you got, so it's impossible to advise.

My journey is Haslemere to Lea Hall.

The intended journey was 0804 from Haslemere, 1003 from Euston.

I got the 0832, which was nearer 0850 when leaving and then changed to another service at Woking.
I am now on the 1043 from Euston.

For departing on the 08:32 from Haslemere, you should have arrived at Lea Hall at 11:52. As it stands, if there are no further delays, you will arrive at 12:23. That's a 31 minute delay, and you are entitled to claim for this off SWR, as they have caused the delay to your journey.
