On the 16th of September my mother and I travelled from Stalybridge to Beckenham Junction on Advance Singles with a Two Together Railcard.
The advertised route was:

11:50 SYB to Manchester Piccadilly, arrive 12:05
12:15 MAN to London Euston, arrive 14:24
14:39 Euston LU to London Victoria LU (Victoria line), arrive 14:48
15:10 London Victoria to BKJ, arrive 15:31.

We arrived in good time however the 11:50 was delayed, presumably due to that landfill train in P3 of SYB. It departed SYB at 12:01 and arrived at MAN at 12:14.
As a result we missed our advertised connection at MAN and had to travel on the next service, the 12:35 departure to EUS, as NRCoC says is permitted to do. After travelling on the Underground from EUS to VIC, the next available train was the 15:40 Orpington service, which arrived on time at BKJ at 1601 as advertised.
We were thus 30 minutes later than advertised - can I claim Delay Repay, and indeed how and who from? I've looked at the TPE form but I can't make sense of it, it only seems to work for single services.

Providing the cause of the delay is considered to be within the control of the rail industry (not necessarily TPEs control, so a delay caused by a freight train or infrastructure failure would count) then compensation is available for a delay of 30 minutes.

If you hold a ticket for a single or return journey, or a weekly Season
Ticket (not Passenger Transport Executive products), and a delay to a
First TransPennine Express service adds 30 minutes or longer to your
journey, we will offer you National Rail travel vouchers for the full cost
of the single leg of your journey that was delayed, i.e. 100%
compensation for single tickets and 50% for return tickets

I once travelled on Transpennine Express from Edinburgh to Preston, and Northern Rail from Preston to Blackburn, and the line was blocked by a freight derailment between Carlisle and Penrith. TPE paid delay repay for their journey, no questions asked so I don't imagine they would refuse your claim.

Do you mean your journey, which was from Edinburgh to Blackburn?

Or do you mean they refused to compensate you for your entire journey, and only the part that was with them?

Sorry, that wasn't clear. The ticket was from Dundee to Edinburgh, the delay occurred on the TPE leg and they did delay repay for the entire journey.

Yes, but that was with Scotrail so I left it out of my original post. The OP was asking about a delay on a TPE service causing them to miss a service with another TOC so the Dundee-Edinburgh portion was irrelevant.

What Yorkie and BB21 are getting at is that if your ticket was from Dundee to Blackburn (presumably rather than Edinburgh) then TPE should have paid compensation on the whole journey whereas you implied they only paid compensation for their part of the journey - between Edinburgh and Preston.

If your journey was Dundee to Blackburn, then I firmly believe that delay compensation is applicable to that journey.

On some occasions Train Companies disagree and claim that delay compensation only claims to the section covered by their train(s) or one ticket that covers travel on their train(s), in this case that would be Edinburgh to Preston. Where this occurs, it will usually be corrected if challenged.

That was just sloppy writing and failing to re-read on my part - using "their journey" instead of the more correct "the journey". To avoid any further confusion, they repaid the cost of the entire ticket.

And you were just using one ticket?

Interestingly enough, they compensated both me (travelling on one ticket) and my colleague (travelling on separate tickets booked separately).

Though, thinking about it, they may have been more 'lenient' in this case because the service was cancelled at Carlisle (and rail-replacement bus to Penrith) which gave them significantly less opportunity wiggle out of if.
