Hi, I usually travel on the 0655 LNER service from Stevenage to Doncaster on a Monday. This morning, this train did not run. It was not marked as cancelled, or appear even in the journey planner, but is in the paper timetable. How do I claim delay repay for this trip as I was using split tickets and had connecting trains to Stockport from Doncaster. The tickets were flexible singles, so do not specify the exact journey, but I assumed this service would be running as per the timetable. On LNER delay repay, it is not appearing as an option to select. Thank you for your help.

If the train was P-coded i.e. removed from the timetable, unfortunately Delay Repay is not applicable. If they're not listing it that will be the case.

You'd be left, if it was seriously inconvenient and incurred you costs, with sueing them for breach of contract (assuming the tickets were purchased with an itinerary on that train). However it's likely they would have a defence that the weather is not under their control, so you'd probably not win.

The service wasn’t in the timetable today, presumably as a result of the engineering works over the weekend which closed the line between Kings Cross and Peterborough. Did you check the timetable / journey planners in advance to see if it was ever scheduled to operate today? Relying on a paper timetable isn’t necessarily enough, if you haven’t checked for changes due to engineering works.

The same thing is happening next Monday (3rd February). That service is not operating.

The Timetable History website says that the train was removed from the timetable on 5th October 2024. That would suggest that you'd be very much out of luck with a Delay Repay claim.

Or that it was planned far enough ahead.
