On the 15th January 2016 I experienced a cancellation at Lowestoft. This lead to a 60+ minute delay to my journey.

On the 20th January I posted the Delay Repay form.

Today I received my cheque.

Frankly amazed at the speed with which the pay out was processed. Well done Greater Anglia!

Perhaps I'm a little jaded after recent claims made to GWR, CrossCountry and Southeastern.

GWR took 6 weeks to pay out. CrossCountry took nearly 8 weeks. The claim I submitted to Southeastern on 14th November 2015 is still pending.

What are others experiences with the time taken to receive Delay Repay/compensation?

Should there be penalties for TOCs who fail to pay out within a certain time frame?

CrossCountry took nearly a month for me (Journeys on 29/12/15, 02/01/16, received today!) then screwed up my journey details and didn't send me the right amount of compensation. Apparently I made it all the way to Edinburgh on a North East Rover!

To their credit, a quick call to their customer relations team had a very apologetic bloke recalculate the compensation while I was on the line and they promised that the difference would be sent as soon as possible so here's hoping!

Posted delay repay form to Cross Country at the beginning of December for a journey made on the 29th November last year, had heard nothing, so just over a week ago I emailed them asking why things were taking such a long time, got an email back last Sunday stating they were dealing with my claim that day, and also stateing they aim to deal with such queries within 10 working days, they have certainly failed in my case. I still haven't received anything from them.
Contrast that with Virgin, after my partner and I missed our train at New Street due to having to wait for ages to get served at the joke that is the new ticket office,we each got £150, yes £150 each, in rail vouchers within a couple of weeks of complaining, this was soon after the ticket office opened probably around 18 months ago, before anyone suggests we should have used a TVM, the tickets we required were only available "over the counter" if I remember correctly.

With the exception of Govia companies excluding LM, who are all painfully slow, and XC too, all other TOCs I find variable. There are good experiences and there are awful ones.

Two trips with VT, both trips processed at the same time, on the same web form for Delay Repay.

Heard back for one journey within a fortnight, still waiting to hear back about the other.
