Hi there,

I have a 7-day Travelcard for my usual commute to work from Billericay to Zone 1. I have registered an account with GA for Delay Repay to make life easier.

Last night I was going to Chelmsford instead but got caught up in Greater Anglia’s delays.
After an announcement at LST informed us there were no trains, I walked to Fenchurch Street with the intention of at least getting to Basildon and getting a bus or taxi from there. However, after checking my phone once underway on c2c, it became apparent that trains were running once again. I got off at West Ham and went back to Stratford.

I finally caught the delayed 1800 (arrived at at least 1835, I think) to Clacton and bought a mobile ticket from Shenfield to Chelmsford.

I have tried logging in to my account to claim for this journey, but it seems that I can’t find an option to combine the two tickets. Does anyone have any experience with this, please? In this instance is it best to just submit a separate claim via email?

I have seen it advised here that delay-repay is not payable if a ticket is purchased in the full knowledge of the disruption. If that is the case (others may confirm) then surely the Shenfield to Chelmsford aspect of your journey will be ineligible for any compensation. The key points are:
At what time were you at Liverpool Street and what time train did you intend to catch? What time should that train have got you to Your destination (Shenfield or Billericay)? At what time did you get to your destination, in this case Shenfield, but presumably the delay to Billericay would be about the same.

With the benefit of those details, someone here will have an idea of what delay repay compensation GA would provide for a season ticket holder.

Thanks.

I arrived at LST at around 1730. I wanted to take the 1748 to Harwich, which was the first service on the board to Chelmsford that was not showing as cancelled; it was only showing as delayed. However, when the tannoy announced that all services were suspended, I left for Fenchurch Street.

I arrived at Stratford (via West Ham and the Jubilee line) at just after 1800 and finally boarded the late-running 1800 to Clacton at around 1835, arriving at Chelmsford at around 1900.

If I was you I'd claim on basis that you intended to travel to Shenfield on the 1740 service 1F46, due Shenfield 1805, but which actually arrived at Shenfield at 1914. Then GA can calculate what delay-repay is due as a percentage of your season ticket. That train doesn't stop at Stratford, so you were probably on 1N48 which doesn't stop at Shenfield, but I advise to keep the claim really simple, not mentioning the detour via West Ham or the fact that you extended you journey to Chelmsford for which you purchased a mobile ticket.
