The connections they broke from stations south of Worcester to the XC network via Cheltenham when they improved the Hereford Sunday Service are sadly not in this list of improvements I see

Connections off the line for the longer distance rail traveller are a headache. Losing direct services to New Street was in many ways a major blow but we have to balance that against the service frequency enhancements that have happend over the years which would not have happened with the pathing and platforming congestion at New Street. We contunue to campaign for improved connections at both Worcester and Smethwck Galton Bridge.

For anyone who finds it easier to see changes with traditional timetables, both TPE (for some routes, including Scotland via Chat Moss) and Chiltern have their respective timetables for Dec 13-May 14 online now.

EMT have all their 2013/14 timetables on their website as PDF. Apart from TPE' South route I haven't found any other 2013/4 timetables yet.

I picked up an EC booklet for Dec-May at York on Saturday.

It doesn't yet seem to be on their website.

There's very little change to the current one except for weekend engineering work.

Manea is set to receive a major uplift in its rail service from January 2014, as train operator Greater Anglia makes arrangements for its 2-hourly Peterborough – Ely – Ipswich service to call at the village station.

Announcing the news at a meeting with Parish, District and County Council representatives Greater Anglia Partnerships Manager Geraint Hughes said: “For a long time we have wanted to respond to the villagers’ request for an improved rail service. With the completion of a key stage of Network Rail’s improvement works at Peterborough station due to be completed over the Christmas period, we can now re-time our service to include the stop at Manea.

There we go, confirmation. From 02/01/14 GA will call all services at Manea :P

So are they going with the full Abellio name now? At least someone's realized that the old logo, using the Microsoft Office default font and with an unnatural swash underline looked highly amateur.

Sadly, they have cut the edge off the "e" in abellio :P Aside from that, I will agree that is does look more professional.

Good news for you people in Stoke and Macclesfield travelling from London. Your last train from Euston is now at 22:50 instead of 21:40. This would also mean there are trains to Manchester from these stops at around 1.00am. So I hope that's Macclesfield getting its first official timetabled train departure after midnight.

Only wish now they'd hurry up and introduce a later service from Manchester to Euston. The last one Monday to Friday is 21:15. I heard back in the days prior to the frequent timetable being introduced and the completion of the WCML works that Virgin would be running frequent services from Manchester to London right up until midnight seeing that journeys were reduced to around 2hrs.

This would also mean there are trains to Manchester from these stops at around 1.00am. So I hope that's Macclesfield getting its first official timetabled train departure after midnight.

Not quite - as mentioned all stops after Watford Junction are set down only.

It's also a rather slow service - taking 3h19 to Manchester and over an hour longer than most services as far as Stoke.

I'm aware of that, they have been so since VHF started 5 years ago; I meant more the non-chronological listing of trains (for some stations) as a result of the combining of services. Like I said though, not much different could have been done.

They could do what other operators' timetables with overtaking services do and use the ↳ and ↴ symbols.

I don't see why all the route letters have been changed (although the colours are the same; in fact they haven't changed since about 2000).

The London - Scotland and Birmingham - Scotland timetables were combined in the last few timetable booklets.

I think all virgins timetables should ditch their timetabled coloured routes and just combine all their times into just one timetable just like they combined Manchester with Liverpool. Makes reading more easy to work out any connections you may need to make. Or for example travelling Manchester to Nuneaton you have to locate its symbol notification then go to the index to find its time rather than see it on the page. I don't even know why Tamworth or Nuneaton isn't included in any of the Manchester/Holyhead/Scotland timetable listings.

Arriva Trains Wales timetable are now online, and the only mistake I can spot is that the M-F 2255 Birmingham New Street to Holyhead is not shown as stopping at Crewe, when in actuality it does. They have also done a nice little feature about the fact that they have provided "10 years of service" and put a little crest-style logo on the timetables.

TPE timetables are also online. Most notable for the NW is that the 1715 from Manchester Piccadilly to Glasgow will become a non-stop service to Preston from 10th Feb, supplemented by a 1713 departure from Oxford Road to Windermere via Bolton. Presumably that will be a 350 service via Chat Moss allowing the 185s to run the extra train.

They are also marking the 1616 as pick up only at Bolton. Some hope. :roll:

I don't want to travel later from London, I want to be able to see a concert in Manchester and get back the same night. It's only 37 miles from Manchester to Stoke yet the last train is 2207 M-F and 2148 Sats.

Pretty much every timetable change (even if only by a couple of minutes) is now listed here on NRE. Some TOCs are more in-depth than others mind, as I assume they decide what level of detail to submit. Certainly worth 10 minutes of your time.
