Train Crew make no effort to remedy this during the journey. This means that the passengers discomfort was their fault.

I'll say again, the on-board crew are not Air Con Engineers. Beyond pressing a few things on the TMS or resetting a CB there is nothing they can do. The Air Con unit is under the floor and in any case they are not authorised nor got the knowledge to be able to fix it.

I'm willing to bet they did have a look at it at some point only to reach said conclusion that the unit had failed. You can't accuse them of not doing anything as you were not there all the time to see them. If they checked it once and found there was nothing they could do it's pointless them trying again!

What do you suggest the crew do to remedy this solution? Take a crash course in Air Con Engineering before the train departs?

You talk nonsense!

1.I didn't blame the train crew for the fault, I blamed them for failing to attempt to fix the fault.

3.Mods, can we move this to the Quiz/Games thread - "Attack Jonfun"?
:(

1`. I am so FRUSTRATED though that you have not responded when I ask you wether you know if they tried to fix the fault

3. How about, "Blame the traincrew for doing nothing"

All I want to eastablish, is do you know if they tried to fix the fault or not, if you don't, then you are still blaming them for no reaon in my book

You do not know they failed to attempt to fix the fault. All they need to do to try and fix it is go behind the frosted glass on the kitchen door, go around the corner and use the TMS system to try and restart the air-con.

I'm not trying to "attack" you, but I think the point most people are trying to make is that you do not know that the staff did nothing, they may well have tried their best, as it is very limited to what you can do as train crew.

At least a mechanic could whack it with a spanner.

1) Yes
2)They were compromising comfort by Not attempting to do anything.
3) Can't help you there, mate
4) Attempt to do something

I've been writing my message, jim - I can't type as fast as lightning.

JIM: They did nothing to try and remedy the fault.
Memorex: Just shows you how lazy some crews can be.

My post was all about the fact that you wouldn't know if they actually tried to do anything.

So I don't know how you got the idea that my post shows that some crews are lazy.

Again, can you prove this and how do you suggest they remedy it short of taking a crash course in Air Con Engineering, carry a spare air con module around with them and repairing it hanging on to the side of the train on the move?

Air Con modules fail, fact. They work long hours everyday and the movement is not ideal. They fail time to time and the crew probably did check out on the previous journey on the TMS but if the unit is failed and not powering there is NOTHING... I repeat... NOTHING they can do. How is that lazy?

You are a Grade A ****.

TMS, Train Managment System on Voyagers, is what controls the train, including the air con. There is TMS panels in Both cabs, Shop and 1 in the "Blacked out area" inbetween coaches.

So, how do you know nothing was done, you can't see them 'playing' with TMS can you!

Now i've established that very few here have a sense of humour, I'll explain - Just because the good crews on many trains would do that, this one didn't and that was what I was commenting on.

Even if they announced they had checked the computers the only reason they'd be able to give is "Computer Says No"....

That'd have just wound people up more!

I have a sense of humour thanks. You seem to be the one who doesn't here, judging by the slanderous comments and failure to respond to any question posed as you know you are wrong.

Once again, PROVE the crew did nothing. What if they could do nothing... then nothing is as much as they can do?

Can we have a moderator here now, please, before this ends up spilling out across the forum. I try to make a joke and what do I get?

So, in conclusion, he could not prove the traincrew did nothing and has just made a complaint against probabally a friendly member of staff for doing nothing wrong, thats 2007 for ya!

If you think it is funny that you are accusing a member of traincrew for doing something that they did/didn't, then you need to sort your life out, because I have seen it as no joke in the last 4 pages

Look guys, for the second time, let's all calm down! No swearing at people, no slander, just calm it!

Jonfun - you walked into it a bit here to be honest. It isn't really fair to accuse the traincrew of any wrongdoing - do you have any proof that they didn't try to get the problem fixed? As already stated by other people, the problem wasn't easy to fix. They are likely to have tried resetting the system - I saw a train manager on a Voyager come to reset a toilet the other day when it stopped working, and they do try to get things sorted when they break down.

However, on the same train, the aircon in one carriage was down. Obviously this wasn't a problem that could be fixed by a simple reset, as it is likely that they had tried to do it in the same way as the toilet. And you've got to remember, they aren't engineers. But again, how do we not know that they tried to contact Virgin control to arrange for an engineer to look at it? They may well have done - Virgin control may well have refused!

I can understand that your original post may well have been meant jokily, but the subject of your complaint was not very jokey, that's why my original response was as it was. Just understand that you are unfair to blame the virtually powerless traincrew for the fault. Blame Virgin control for not getting water out quickly enough; blame maintainence depots for not sorting out aircon problems (which I agree are unacceptable); blame the original manafacturers for poor reliability. But don't blame traincrew when they don't deserve it. I agree, there are some poor traincrews out there on various different TOCs, but in this case, they couldn't have really done much more.

As for everybody else, I can see why you were getting frustrated, but let's keep it nice. Don't swear or abuse, it doesn't really enhance your point particularly.

And as David said, this particular argument has got a bit out of hand...
