These diagrams are 'doing the rounds' -

05:19 PRE - CAR [09:24]
09:38 CAR - BIF [12:08]
12:31 BIF - CAR [14:56]
15:12 CAR - PRE [19:30]

06:15 CAR - BIF [08:43]
09:08 BIF - CAR [11:34]
11:50 CAR - BIF [14:19]
14:52 BIF - CAR [17:19]

So what DMUs does that release?

I was imagining they would release at least 2 x 156 but wondering whether one digram was a pair of 156s or one had a 153 on the back or anything.

3 car DMU down the Cumbrian coast? - you'll be lucky nowadays. More likely to get a single 153 than a 3 car lash up. There is/was one diagram that was a pair of 153s for part of the day, then reduced to a single in the evening peak! This was so that it was at Carlisle overnight to strengthen the early morning S&C service.

So is there any loco hauled passenger trains on the Cambrian coast at the moment?

I take it you mean the Cumbrian Coast? The Cambrian is entirely worked by 158s.

Loco hauled trains on the Cumbrian Coast are expected to start in May.

Some are now appearing on RTT (real time trains). Not quite what was expected, but still not fully finalised by the looks of it.

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=114092

What do you mean not quite as expected, not starting at Preston perhaps as was suggested by some, was there any real foundation for that? the early morning train from Carlisle for Sellafield workers? who's to say that will be Loco Hauled, probably more reliable if it isn't, people seem to be forgetting the purpose of this Loco hauled gig is mainly to release units rather than the Loco Hauled Workers train as per the 2012 trial.

I never said that the Sellafield workers train would be loco hauled, merely that it wasn't there.

Has anyone got any pictures of the interior of these mk2's?

If they're done to the same standard as the ones in Anglia, they're very nicely finished. (All?) seats at tables, lining up with the windows, outrageous I know..

IF it is the same as used in East Anglia or for the Tour De France extras last year:

As you can see all done up to a very high standard

I think calling it "a very high standard" is rather generous. It's very nice, but not the most imaginative use of light, colour and materials, having recently sat in one of these DRS refurbed Mk 2s.

it was clean, comfortable, smelt nicely and used decent quality materials. The standards were higher than many other rail vehicles I have used recently

I think a better description would be clapped out MK2's done to a reasonable standard by charter stock standards.

Maybe, but it looks as if its in much better nick than than the current rolling stock which graces the line!

But still more comfortable than pretty much any modern train you might care to mention.

I thought the early morning Sellafield had to be loco hauled last time because Carlisle crews didn't sign the road round the Cumbrian Coast so unless thats changed since then?

I don't know but the point I was making which illicited the reply was that last time the Loco Hauled ran it was specifically for Sellafield workers, where as this time it is mainly to release 2 units so potentially a morning or evening workers train might still be a unit. If I was a Sellafield worker I think I would prefer a unit, it might be more reliable and not full of Rail Enthusiasts! mind at least any Potential Window Hangers will be curtailed with the window bars.

Coaches with this interior were used on the Manchester Victoria - Preston additional trains that were Loco Hauled in December 2014.

Many passengers, used to, of course, ex-FNW, ex-ATN and the now hideous ex-LM 150s, and the varying grades of s**** of pacer, got on and exclaimed 'Well isn't this fancy for the Chorley train!' or similar :P

Still not right though, is it. (weekdays)
The 0842 ex Carlisle on arrival at Barrow is showing as going ecs to the sidings and returning on the 1138 to Carlisle. EDIT - just noticed that the platform numbers indicate that the ecs is the Morecambe.
The ecs should be the unit off the Morecambe terminator (the headcodes match, 2C47 and 5C47). They're also not balanced, both turns start at BIF, but one ends at CAR. It'll get sorted in the coming days no doubt. Every time I take a look at RTT something appears to have changed.

It's beginning to look like the diagrams are:
dia 1
05.57 Barrow-Carlisle
08.42 Carlisle-Barrow
11.38 Barrow-Carlisle
14.35 Carlisle-Barrow
17.31 Barrow-Carlisle
dia 2
14.37 Barrow-Carlisle
17.37 Carlisle-Barrow
add to this a Carlisle - Barrow run (not yet showing) in the morning to balance it out.

This would mean that the sets swap over every day, which makes sense operationally.

What traction will be on these? If 57s are doing the test runs then it would more likely be them surely?

Probably route learning/refreshing rather than test train. The boss of DRS has said the trains will be 37/4 and DBSO.

The 05.59 Maryport-Preston is going to start from Carlisle so I suspect that is the balance, presumably split at Barrow. Can't see any obvious way of getting it back other than ECS if it goes through.

2037 to Whitehaven (2C48) is not showing as loco hauled, but returns to Workington in service (2C39), then ECS to Carlisle (5C39). This would normally work off the 2031 arrival from Barrow. I was thinking this may also be loco hauled but I see there is a service terminating (ex Newcastle) at 1957. Both in Platform 2.

This would balance out if the 0559 Carlisle to Barrow is loco hauled, as suggested above, but not showing in RTT when I last looked.

Regardless there are 3 diagrams starting at Workington in the morning but only two finishing in the evening.
