This station is not in Sussex. The village in the clue is itself very close to being Kentish; it is the last settlement on its road in East Sussex before the border.

Ashurst is the closest I can think of but can't see how the clue relates apart from the hurst bit. Also the village is in Kent as far as I can see... :?

Sorry guys - not been around much of late, what with the GM Challenge and all.

Camberley is correct! The village of Camber, site of Camber Sands holiday park, is roughly halfway between Rye and the Kentish border, and the settlement ending "-ley" roughly identifies a settlement as being in a clearing in a wooded area.
