I think I should retire! Another very good one I hadn't considered but probably the closest so far.New Addington (Tramlink)
Fourth good one. Not many left (I hope!)Overton
Oops, a fifth good one. Think of the extra "nudging" up to a point. Should be simples now.Addington Village
Not Tipton.Tipton?
Not Exton.Exton?
WaddonNot Tipton.
Not Exton.
Let's rephrase the clue.
A point plus. (Served by Southern).
Not Tadworth.Tadworth?
That's it. Over to you.Waddon
Thank you. That's it. Over to you.
You're not even in the arboretum.Ash? (Or am I barking up the wrong tree?)
That looks like a shed and sounds like one too so no.Cabin (Blackpool Tramway)?
Not the right answer but your thinking is appropriately lateral and, in part, spot on.Lostock? (Taking 'shed' To mean lose, drop, or a snake shedding is skin, rather than as a refuge for old buffers)
Sorry, you lose.Lewes?
That answer doesn't appeal.Peel (IoM)?
Slough pronounced "sluff" - verb: to shed skin. Well done, your turn...Slough (another term for snaky disrobing)?
I'm almost completely stumped by this, but here's a go. Barrow Haven? A barrow is a castrated boar, and haven being an institution, possibly - 'oop North' meaning in the north of England (though Lincolnshire doesn't really count in my opinion!), and I've no idea how the play area fits. But it's the best I've got.
That's a load of bullocks!I had no idea that a barrow was a castrated boar -- very educational, this "Quizzes and Games" ! The livestock as per clue, though, is not porcine -- a different species. Being looked for as a possible synonym for "institution", is a word which is actually a very short and simple one. "Oop North" geographically correct (indeed further up that way, than Lincolnshire): also, involves a Northern English dialect word.
Well I think I've got there, in the end - Oxenholme Lake District? 'Oxen+ho(l)me' being an institution for neutered livestock, 'lake' meaning 'to play' (though that threw me - in my own northern English accent/dialect, that word is pronounced 'leck'), and 'district' meaning 'area'.I had no idea that a barrow was a castrated boar -- very educational, this "Quizzes and Games" !
