Ah well, as a Cumbrian I wouldn't count Alsager as being North-West!

So for all those upset by the World Cup results:

Backward races link up with the Spanish, or indeed the backward French!

Fearing that my mind is thoroughly in the gutter: but how about Spooner Row? Play on words -- Newquay = "nookie"; "spooning", an archaic slang word for kissing-and-cuddling: that seen as a stage on the way to the aforesaid n-word ...

I do rather feel that to a fair number of Sassenachs, the "more intricate intricacies" of the rail network of Scotland's central belt, are just a closed book -- I hasten to add, our loss ! A year or so ago, looking for a clue to set in this game: I found from the national list, Addiewell on the Glasgow -- Edinburgh via Shotts route: a station I'd never heard of before. At least one responder to my clue, mentioned that it was also a totally new place to him ...
