Time for a hint, I reckon. Although this station is very far from being a busy or "key" one; owing to a couple of different things about it, it has featured quite noticeably on RailUKForums in recent years.

On the grounds that it contains the word beef shifted about a bit, it has two words, and quite possibly RF people talk about it a lot (though not so much, I'd imagine, as Blackpool North, which sadly I could' t get to fit).

Impressive ingenuity; but wrong, I'm afraid. And re your "beef": the foodstuff conerned is "vegetable, not animal". What I meant by "tinkering", in original clue, was that to make the cryptic meaning "from / to the station-answer name" (if that makes sense): one of the two words which make up the station name, needs to be split into two words. (I fear a bit that in trying to help here, I'm only making things more puzzling !)

Unlike Blackpool North; the "answer station" is generally talked about on the Forums in a spirit of rather bemused affection.

I'll take a stab with Church Fenton.

Church (as in the catholic church) is definitely a state (the Vatican) as well as a very large corporation (if not the largest in the world). Fenton, divide into "Fen" as in plants, etc., and ton as in "large agglomeration". It is certainly not busy as a stopping place (although quite a bit of traffic goes by).

Again, impressively convoluted reasoning; but alas, not correct. I thought my clue was pretty easy; but as per apparent tendency with me in this game, people seem not to have found it so. @RobertsN: it really is (to my mind anyway) considerably simpler than you would have things as above. (I mentioned nations-and-conglomerates, only because they're the sort of outfits which have commodity "mountains" -- it's that concept, which this poser is about.)

Offering an alternative clue: If Dr. Spooner were to speak of this station -- he might seem to be referring to a con-man's decoy-type assistant; who followed a mellow, un-acquisitive druggy / arty alternative lifestyle.

What I really love about this thread is how creative thinking gets going (and I really mean this in the very best possible sense).

The answer is so much more simple.

Extra hint: A part of the solution is phonetically based.
Extra hint 2: If you were hungry livestock, what could you be asking for? (I know it sort of fits in with @Calthrop 's reasoning, but again the answer was not what was expected).
