Rauceby?

There is a slight chance that Rauceby isn't the correct answer, in which case may we have another clue?

Not Causeway.

Another addition, maybe?

I'm still not 100% sure how Leatherhead comes from the original clue. What am I missing?

There were four versions of the clue:

Where a confused Santa will go
Where Santa's skull will go when confused
Where a bovine Santa's skull will go when confused
When skinned, a bovine Santa's skull will go when confused

...none of which logically lead to Leatherhead, as far as I can see. WTF has Santa got to do with it?

It is not Rauceby. Skull is not part of the anagram, either.

...and where is the anagram?

Yeas, I couldn't make it fit with the earlier clue versions either! We need a walk through DasLunatic :)

I'll leave the floor open again.

My trail of thought...

Confused Santa - anagram of Santa = Satan
Where does Satan go? Hell
Synonym of 'skull' = head
You can also go 'hell for leather', so the answer is Leatherhead.

This one should be easier...

"East London's pretender" could be a cockney actor who shares a name with a station, so I made a list of possible candidates...

Michael Preston
Ray WinStone
Barbara Windsor & Eton Central/ Riverside
Honor Oak Park Blackman
Angela LansBury Bolton Street or Angela LansBury Interchange or Angela LansBury St Edmunds
Warren Street Mitchell
Sandwell and Dudley Moore
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Stretching things even further, The Royal could be (Prince Charles) Chaplin?

Or Stratford Johns if east refers to the station rather than the actor.

Or John Leyton
