Nope.

Actually, I can't see how the clue could suggest Stanmore or Moorgate.

Well, obviously my thinking was wrong, but if you are interested in how I got there, I remembered the Moorgate Tube Disaster on the Northern Line in 1975, when 43 people perished, and then the BR Moorgate, closed, not because of a tube wreck but because of the Thameslink work.

So this Moorgate is the station not wiped-out by a tube wreck.

So a bit sombre, and I look forward to seeing the correct answer.

I see. You are taking the clue entirely too literally. It is cryptic and intended to misdirect while the correct interpretation points directly to how you arrive at the answer.

The answer is not a tube station.

Station no tube-wreck wiped out
sta =station
n =no
and I could only think of one station (Stanmore) that started stan hence the question mark:)

As a further hint, the word station is a definition of the answer, included to produce a sentence that makes some sort of sense.

Tidily put away the unknown?

I'm getting nowhere with this one. 'Tidily put away' could indicate something like 'stow' and 'unknown' could be X but the best match I could find is Felixstowe, but I can't see where FELI could come from.

I could, of course, be failing to recognise the clue type.

I think a hint might be in order.
