"I'm sorry Leo", said the wizard whilst wiping straw from his hands, "you'll have to wait in line. Its the....."
I willl try Addlestone
as in
Lancelot fine, saddles to net his horse
Tonbridge
(Lancelot, finest on Bridget his horse)
No, it's not Tonbridge. I don't think the Arthurian stories give a name for Lancelot's horse.
The station does refer in some way to Lancelot (or Galahad or Tristram or Gawain or...etc).

Perhaps Guinevere's bit of rough was on cheffing duties at Camelot, and had obtained supplies from Tesco, thus eliciting the following comment from Gawain:
Lancelot! Fine supper - Hollo! Wa! Y... - this HORSE!!
How much of a surprise would it be if I say this is not right? Remember that only two of the original four words are unchanged, and obviously Lancelot is one of them.

I have given up on this one
I have tried to fit every station into the sentence and apart from a few weird expressions (of which my previous entry was the most sensible!) nothing fits with any credibility
So thanks Seacook for three wasted nights
I await the answer with great interest

Is it Knighton
Lancelot finest knight on his horse
Had been looking previously to put the name between two words rather than in the middle of one

Initially try every name before York
Correct. Your turn
Outing them from the south-west?
Exeter?

Wagered reform will put an end to journeys to Northern parts
Edgware?
Red Spotted Hanky helped cure ill horse.
I think it is time for a hint on this one. The best I have achieved so far is to note that 'ill horse' is an anagram of Rose Hill but there is no station of that name, though there is a Rose Hill Marple. If the last part is indicated by 'Red Spotted Hanky', I can't see how.
I can't help thinking I'm missing something vital.

Rose Hill is correct. It's an anagram of 'ill horse' and Red Spotted Hanky RSH is the station code for Rose Hill.
According to Northern's map http://www.northernrail.org/pdfs/network_map/network_map_jan_2010.pdf there is a station called Rose Hill. Am I mistaken?
