When was CrossCountry planning to increase to 4 diagrams (I know that plan has now been scrapped)? I wonder whether the 11:05 was the planned service for one of the additional diagrams in which case that would explain why it is timed for the IC125. A number of Scotland - Plymouth services have always been pathed as a HST for a number of years even through the normal allocation is a voyager.

It was supposed to be from May 2023 as the plan was for the C6 overhauls to be complete by then. C6 programme is still ongoing and in any case the 4 sets plan has been overtaken by events.

Any gen on the XC HST diagrams for Saturday 8 July?
The day there was the enormous bomb scare at New Street (some time last Autumn?) saw Bromsgrove have the honour of being the turn around point for at least 1 HST set / rarity indeed
43357 and 43303 are on the only set out this afternoon and should end in Leeds according to RTT.
So looks like they will work 1V44 0609 Leeds - Plymouth and 1327 Plymouth - Edinburgh tomorrow.

I am planning to take my Dad on one last HST journey this summer. I fully appreciate there are no guarantees, but how reliable is 1V50 and 1E63 in terms of HST diagrams on weekdays? Cheers

I think generally pretty reliable - if you look at Realtime trains site over selected days / recent past days for them and see if they are HST with the image on the top of the page u can see what ran each day to get an idea.
Obv for weekdays it's not an option but for weekends and b hols you have the weekend first upgrade if that appeals - as you do not have to pre book that there is no risk of spending if the set did not run on your day of choice.
But due to risk of set swaps I personally only use a walk up ticket when I know the HST is operating. Depending on your departure point that could be when you actually see it at the platform, tho that's not really an option if you are joining en route!

1V50 is voyager for second day in a row. The HSTs have varying ailments, there was a 2 plus 5 going around in the week....

1V50 on a Saturday is booked for a Voyager. The only booked HST on normal Saturdays, when no engineering works, from Edinburgh should be the 08:07 to Plymouth.

Yes just seen the 5 car HST go past us at Dawlish Warren on the 16.27 Plymouth- Leeds.
1V50 is booked HST Sat 1st/8th/15th/22nd* July due to engineering works between Bristol Parkway and Cheltenham Spa with the Newport diversions. Normally, the booked HST is 1V52 0658 Edinburgh to Plymouth.
*RMT strike 22nd July
Not anymore on a Saturday, it's 1V54 0807 Edinburgh to Plymouth.

The information I have is the 2nd diagram will be
06.58 Edinburgh to Plymouth
17.27 Plymouth to Leeds.
PS the 2nd leg of the first diagram is 12.27 PLymouth to Edinburgh

What are the likely HST diagrams on Sunday 16 July when the Newport diversions are also in operation?
If it follows last sunday then they should be as follows :
set 1 1V48 0811 Leeds Plymouth - 1E67 1525 Plymouth Leeds
set 2 1S55 1327 Plymouth Edinburgh
set 3 1V60 1105 Edinburgh Plymouth
This may change as the XC was in a mess this morning due to trespass near Burton upon Trent causing 1V44 to be turned back from Burton to Derby and then cancelled and many other trains cancelled or even diverted via Leicester. The set formed a 0945 replacement train Derby to Edinburgh. This may form the 1504 1V68 Edinburgh - Bristol as far as Leeds and then head north again on 1S51 from Leeds in order to be in place for tomorrows 1V60.

Ye, 1418 at Newport for Glasgow Ctrl was a 221 coupled to the shiniest 220 I’ve ever seen. 9 carriage formation so the perfect allocation in my personal book, particularly as the saloons weren’t that busy, although I know many of you hardcore spotters would prefer a 7 carriage HST. (Image shows as described)
Voyager today as Newport diversions on.

This did happen, 43378 + 43239 currently about 40 mins late on 1S51. A speed restriction due to the weather was quoted as the reason on the southbound leg before the swap.

No - the booked HST to Edinburgh yesterday was declared a failure at Plymouth and was subbed with a Voyager from Bristol TM
