It’s because of upcoming retirement. I’ve heard a few figures from other TOC’s too.
TPE need 70+ drivers.
Northern need 50+.
Avanti need 30+.
XC need 32.
Don’t know how true any of them are but it gives us all a bit of hope!
Avanti seems about right , they posted on LinkedIn about needing 40 this year and that they already had a recruitment campaign for the first ten. Although I don't know the mix of trainee and qualified.

Does anyone know whether XC require standard or enhanced passes for the psychometrics?

Furthermore, would a failure of the initial OPC online tests (VSE & SJT) count as a strike? I understand they wouldn't but I'd like to check this.

Thanks.

Standard pass.
And no, only testing at a testing centre goes as a strike if you fail.

The automated email said allow 2 weeks to hear back if you've made it through the sift, that would be another week from now for me :)
Not heard a thing, from this year or last! I’m not expecting anything. I wonder if, with being on the DB recruitment system, if you have progressed with one DB application whether in nullifies other applications??

I have an assessment coming up for an operative role soon so I hope not!

You cant put all your eggs in one basket so I hope the recruitment team doesnt see it that way

Be at least another year I reckon ;)

Did you receive the acknowledgment email? I haven’t received anything but my application says in process. Am I to assume that because haven’t received email I haven’t made it past the screening.

Anyone from last years not receive first email get the tests through?

Nothing whatsoever.

We should hopefully be hearing some sort of update on Monday!
What makes you say that? Have you heard something or had contact?

Just going by the previous confirmation emails. I had an email last Monday that they needed 2 weeks to process and review applications. This was a follow up from an email 2 weeks previous that said it could take 2 to 4 weeks. So far I would say they're on track, even if their correspondence to applicants isn't the most consistent!

hopefully it will be good news for us
Yes!

Well... it appeared that there was already a sort of mini sift through applications because some people were already told they didn't get the role. This was before they sent the rest of us the email saying 2 - 4 weeks. I am guessing before it was like an auto sift. The applications that made it through the auto sift, are probably being looked over manually.

Just a guess, but hey ho! good luck to all :)

I’m hoping I get good news because I did a Princes Trust Get Into Transport Services course with CrossCountry Trains in Birmingham in September 2021 and this was their very first course so I’m hoping in more of a chance.

As posted up thread, the DB/Arriva website location field is seriously broken. Someone really should advise them to get on top of it.

I think the website has been updated now and it should show all applications as there respected job titles now.
