Jasprit's figures were 24.4overs 7 maidens 5 for 57.

Do anything the opposition doesn't want you to do it forced India to warm up to field. It caused limited prep for thier batsmen

Before the start of the first day, ABC's pundits commented on the unusual amount of grass left on the wicket. Whether that's the cause of its evident "liveliness" I don't know.

The match has certainly gone at a pace, fortunately it will go into a decent third day, which is the pink day in aid of Glenn McGrath's charitable foundation in memory of his wife Jane.

On day 2 of 4 in the Minor Multi-Day mantch between Cricket Australia XI and the England Lions, the Lions were struggling in their first innings at 161-7 and batting at number nine, a position mich lower than he bats for Lancashire, Rocky Flintoff aged either 16 or 17 (not sure which) came to the crease and produced a remarkable innings of 108 from 127 balls with 6 x 6 and 9 x 4 and was last man out, but not until the Lions score had reach a far heaklthier total of 319 all out.

Might be worth thinking about him for the T20 team.
In the current game the England openers Salt & Duckett were out for 4 and 3 respectively. Fortunately Jos Butler has got his eye in and is 37 not out off just 20 balls.
England are 2-58 after 6 overs.

As a neutral I thoroughly enjoyed this game.
Tilak Varma was Player of the Match with his unbeaten 72 but in my opinion the star of the show was Jofra Archer. in the England innings his comic calling caused Brydon Carse to be run out and then his bowling if that what's you call it was. 4 overs 0 maidens 60runs 1 wicket.
Hope they pick him for the Ashes.

As a non-neutral, I also thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd T20 between India and England. As for Jofra Archer, yes, he had a shocker yesterday, but just a few days ago he bowled 4 overs for 21 runs, taking 2 wickets and was the pick of the England bowlers by a long way.

Day 2 of 4 in the Test Match was a good time for me to see how far ahead Australia were in their first innings.

They have just reached a score of 400-4. Annabel Sutherland scored 163 before being dismissed (1 x 6 and 21 x 4) and Beth Mooney is still there on 89 not out (7 x 4)

England have increased their dropped catches total to seven.

Day 2 of 4 in the Men's first-class match saw Australia A declare their first inning at 373-9 (96 overs), with Patterson 137 (14 x 4) and Phillipe 120 not out (5 x 6 and 15 x 4) making notable scores.

England Lions in their first inning reached 106-4, then proceeded to totally collapse to 116 all out (37.3 overs). Notable bowling returns by....

Doggett ...........7 - 2 - 17 - 3

England were asked to follow-on and at close of play in the second innings were 116-2 with Mc Kinney 67 not out (1 x 6 and 10 x 4), still 141 runs behind Australia A.

6 Balls from Saqib Mahmood and the score was 3-12!
They finished on 9-181 with both Dube & Hardik getting 53.
Mr Archers 4th over went for 17 leaving him with the figures of 4 overs 0 maidens 0-37.
Englands reply started well, reaching 62 before the 1st wicket fell.
They then folded to 3-67 and wickets continued to fall @ 95, 129, 133, 137, 146 163 & 166 losing by 15 runs.
Top scorers were Brook 51 & Duckett 39.
Just to complete another poor performance Jofra was bowled for a duck off his 2nd ball.

At least that was quite an exciting match, which it looked at times that England might have won.

Unlike the women's series just ending, where England have never looked anywhere near competitive. An innings defeat is imminent.

The last six months have been very chastening for English cricket supporters. I think most of us would rather avoid discussing it all on here, we'll just hide under the blanket with our disappointment

Probably because they haven't been playing in Sri Lanka. They have been playing in India however.

In many of the games defeat has been snatched from the jaws of victory. Take yesterday's Men's T20. Overton not taking singles to rotate strike into the last over. Did he not trust Adil Rashid to score runs? That's appalling if that is the mentality players have.

Raf Nicholson, talking on TMS this morning, was dissecting the manner of the Women's Ashes series in Australia. One of the main points was the attitude that has permeated down through the team, and the men's team had a similar mentality. Another point was the U19 Women's World Cup semi-final against India yesterday. At least five wickets fell to slog sweeps. Player's have seemingly forgotten how to play sensible cricket.

It was also stated that changes have to be made. When a coach puts out a bowler, making her debut, for the post-match interview and that person has not had the best of matches, then what does that say about the leadership? Players refusing to accept criticism and coaches blaming the climate or making other excuses to try and deflect blame shows that the mindset is totally wrong.
