This company, Corethree, seems to have managed to get plenty of bus firms to use their app for mobile ticketing, timetable info and more - but it's BLOODY awful.
I was shocked that Arriva recently signed a contract and can't believe they didn't see the reviews of the various rebadged versions on the app stores. Barely any good reviews at all, and always the same problems reported.
I have the Intalink version and it has always been buggy. It has a system whereby if you reset your phone (or change phone) you lose all your purchased tickets even though you've got a unique login/password. It doesn't let you deactivate another device and recover on another, which is silly and so easy to sort.
From an operators point of view, there's a security flaw that actually allows you to restore purchased tickets (illegally) if you know what you're doing - which means their supposed security method to avoid abuse doesn't work, but still causes problems for genuine customers.
Realtime info has never worked properly, and now I know why - they only have fixed timetable info. Such that since March when a number of services were axed and new ones set up, NONE of the changed services are in the app.
I Tweeted HCC/Intalink and they came back to say "We are aware of the issues with the app. Our developers are working to resolve them, but it is proving difficult."
So difficult I suspect that they haven't fixed typos I reported a year or two ago yet. In fact, I can't remember the last time the app was updated.
Finding your nearest bus stop is a mess, and managing favourites a joke. Plus so many routes don't even have mobile tickets offered for sale (that bit isn't the fault of the app mind).
Another thing it doesn't let you do is buy multiple tickets, so if you have the app to avoid carrying cash, anyone travelling with you needs their own app. Oh, but you can usually only buy m-tickets in batches of 5 or 10. Great for visitors. Plus, my son is 5 and doesn't have a phone, so I can go cashless myself but need money for him or I can't use the bus.
Stuff like this is one of the many reasons people are put off using buses.
Has anyone else experienced these shoddy, amateurish, apps - or anything that works better (which wouldn't seem hard!)
