Oh Forest, didn't think that was on the MML.

Totally agree. Would rather stand for 35 mins on a 222 than sit for 60 mins on a 319. Noisy, uncomfortable, draughty!
Perhaps the AOONB would accept 3rd rail so the 377s could go further?
I'm surprised so many FCC trains carry on to Bedford cos its so lightly loaded to the north. Yet the EMT are busy up to Bedford.
What about other potential stops to the north of Bedford?
Far too expensive to slap some wires all those miles for 3 stops in that part of the woods. Might as well do the whole MML as that's growing nicely
It would be ideal to electrify the MML however it won't be done within the 10 years. Network Rail is isn't in the best finical situation to start using billions of Taxpayers money to electrify Bedford - Derby/Nottingham - Sheffield given that Meridians and HSTs are doing a relatively faultless job at the minute.
Once 317/319s life expire and the HST2 Project is in Prototype Stages then I can see Network Rail (Or whatever it is by then) resignalling and installing OHLE.
The Corby services are going to be part of the new Melton Mowbray-St Pancras service IIRC, using 5 car meridian sets. Though if they worked on Old Dalby they could reroute Nottingham trains that way.
