I received a phone call yesterday from fgw saying my dm was very strong, she worded it like i passed and would be going on the next training course for that depot and said the corresponding email to go with my dm results would make it sound like bad news where in fact its just a badly worded email.

I have being PMing a few other forum members who are in exactly the same position and its a confusing time as we sit and hope for more news.

Who else is in this position and wants to rant?

I would be grateful you have got as far as you have mate to be honest ;)

There are lots of people on here, and out in the world, who have put there heart and soul into assessments and interviews and haven't got as far as you, they might feel like a rant, but those in the position of just having to wait for a course date are extremely lucky in my book :)

I am extremely grateful to have got this far. Truly I am. I never thought for a million years I would. Its the fact that I have poured my heart and soul into it and now feel a bit confused as to where I stand. A straight answer is what is needed. Because at the moment the thoughts going through my head are crazy.
Have I got the job and will hear from them about the upcoming course or will I be forgotten about 6 months down the line.

I am very grateful though, and thats not my intention with the post.
I want to know whose in similar positions and if anyone's more in the know?

Do you think it might have something to do with the Merger?

FCC and Southern are combining, so maybe they are awaiting this to happen??

FGW Is part of the First Group, so it might have something to do with this?

I am not entirely sure of whether this would make a difference to FGW

I am sure once everything is merged, there will be more places to have the training and courses, so people might be offered something nearer to where they live if there are a further distance away from what is currently available?

I am in the same position as you, I have just passed the final interview, and I had a call from FCC HR to inform me that although I had done extremely well in the final interview, because of the position I applied for, and the distance required to get there for training (Although I made it clear at every step of the way that I would be looking to relocate) they thought it better for me (and they were also I am sure thinking of my family as well) that I should wait until the September amalgamation so I would do my training closer to home, which I am extremely pleased about even though I was willing to move closer

The only concern I have is that currently I have the email from FCC Confirming my results, and telling me they are all good for three years, and that I will not require any further interviews and as soon as the course becomes available I will be offered a place on it.............. BUT......... what happens if people like you and myself are not carried over?

Will we still be doing the courses as per instruction? For me, it wont be FCC anymore, it will be the TSGN Franchise so will I still be entitled to take my place on a course?

I dont have a definite answer mate, but that could be a possibility?

First Great Western have nothing to do with FCC or the new Thameslink franchise..
Especially now that they will be run by 2 completely different parent companies.

I too have completed my final interview, I was told they could not let me know a result as they are still interviewing people. Hopefully my phone will ring anytime now... oh no that was my door bell! I've never wanted something so much in my life!

Re fcc. I had an email from HR telling me that the talent pool will be transferred over to the new franchise.
We'll have to wait and see what happens.
