Hi,
I (we) was given some exceptional service recently.
I'd very much like to compliment the crews responsible but am actually worried that I might get them into bother!
(Basically we had to board with a ramp in First Class due to a mobility issue and I asked if we could please stay until the next long stop to move to Standard but they insisted we stay for the whole 2 hour plus journey and we got tea & biscuits etc.)
I don't want to get anybody into trouble.
Railway people... would this happen or would the powers that be be only too happy?
I can't tell you enough how a simple act of kindness in an empty First Class carriage made such a difference to the day and might even tempt me to splash out in future so it is a win-win for the TOC, but would they see it that way?

I don't work for the railways, so you might not want to take my word alone, but I'm pretty sure that railway staff are given discretion to do exactly this sort of thing, that your compliments will be well-received and won't get anyone into any trouble. They're essentially doing their job well when they do this sort of thing.

I am confident that compliments to the staff will be appreciated by both management and the individuals concerned. An email to the train operator's customer email or a Tweet mentioning the date, time and station from which the train departed will help identify the staff. on-board staff are given lots of discretion to look after passengers.

Definitely get onto the relevant TOC, they’ll be thrilled to hear a compliment, and nobody would get in trouble. This is one of those things where discretion is allowed and you were permitted to remain within first class. It doesn’t cost any real extra to the toc (minus some tea bags and biscuits) but has a lasting impression on yourself and whoever your travel partner.
Tweet, or email with the journey details (date/time, from/to) and they’ll get it passed across!

Whenever i have wanted to pass on really positive feedback for a toc employee i first twitter the toc to give a wide idea of the feedback (eg wonderful service from gaurd on 1215 from kings cross) and asked for a customer service email to give them the detial

Definitely worth passing on, and no chance of anyone getting into hot water over this - there is discretion to allow things like this.

Good result - and great to hear a good news story for once!

I would just be a bit careful of putting it on open social media, in case future passengers use the "well you let him do it so why not me?" argument.

That's very true, no worries was just going to go to the TOC.
Thank you everybody for your replies, it's good to know that this will go down well :)
