GV...stop sitting on the fence and be more committed. Number 4 ticks all the right boxes for focus, content, atmosphere and composition. Gets my vote, well done mate .....or lassie!
Look at the 'Blue ' content in there, sky, engine, the moors behind and strangely the blue granite ballast right in the foreground, It 'aint gray for my eyes but looks blue.
Not Photoshop is it...?

I prefer being neutral because then I can always choose the winning side at the end, rather than going for one side, and finding out it loses later on

I love number 9 - reminds me of my photos, but I never yet managed to get the angle as interesting as that! Great shot in my eyes. Number 4 looks over-photoshopped to me - very much a chocolate box picture (sorry if i offend, I really don't mean to!)

Didn't enter this or last week's one randomly, never noticed this one for entry anyway.

Not really a fan of any photos in this lot, which is a first for me.

Gone with photo 2, the only one I really like much at all. Might be a bit blurry, but since a number of photos don't fit the category to my eyes, then I'm going for it.

Has to be said that this is the weakest POTW round I've ever attempted to cast a vote for.<(

It was 4 for me this week. I really liked a lot of them this week, though. 1 was great and I really liked 9 as well.

Oh, I don't know! I rather enjoyed looking at them - nice variety of shots.

Anyway, I liked shot 1 very much - could be from the period were it not for the 'flailing', and shot 3 is very appealing also - but I find myself yearning to see more of the landscape, almost trying to peer around the 'corners' of the image.

My vote goes to No. 4, by some margin - it's a pretty fantastic photo. As minette said, 'very much a chocolate box picture' - and it is, but to me this no bad thing. Gorgeous sky, great location (no 'orrible modern lineside equipment - nothing but a lovely semaphore!).

Above all, though, the sense of power and speed - a combination, I guess, of the angle of the shot, exposure, great trailing smoke and above all, beauty, grace, and sheer style of the A4. I do have a weakness for BR (steam) blue.

Didn't you say that about another one recently as well?

No, pretty sure I didn't. I usually find it difficult to vote for a winner, having to come back the day after or something to cast a vote.

As for why I thought it was weak this week, so many photos just didn't fit the theme (which I thought was a poor choice, there's so many good themes that could be used, but that's my opinion). I mean, come on, a photo of a toy Gordon just doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the competition, same for the one of the baby in the baby seat with a navy-blue BR cap. But hey, maybe it's just me.

Liam: You're not the only one who wants to know why. In any case, the chap whom you quoted is wrong because the photo got my vote.

Well i must say good collection of photos but either number 1 or 4 and I must say to be of the photographers that they have managed to develop a certain style to the extent that I know who's photo is who but this time im going for number 1.
