Normally, when I make a posting, I cross the entry off my "rough-draft" notes. I was checking back on all my past ones, when I saw that this one on an old sheet had not been "struck-through" on one of these, so I just added the word "bulk" to it, as I have been reading about an accdent when some of these bulk salt waggons were involved in 1915. Incidentally, do you remember the model SAXA SALT waggons, with their unusual shape?

PS: Several times I found myself having to re-read the thread from the beginning to eliminate a possible repeat, so I have to confess that I resorted to a solution by technology. Do you have MS Office may I ask?

You cannot beat the good old-fashioned method of ruled A5 pads to make your "idea drafts" upon, then to cross them off in red when you have made them (which I unfortunately forgot to do on one occasion). However, these are only the ones that I have made and makes no allowance for those posted by other people. So NO..I do not use any computer aid whatsoever. Your new system did find that particular "salinity" example. I did notice that someone had re-used the one that I originally made about the "singularity" of the class that only had 71000 Duke of Gloucester in it. One of my more "inspirational" ideas was the use of the "Fishkinds" departmental waggons stock, as this water-based-life naming of these waggons lent themselves very easily to already well-known Collective Nouns. e.g. A B]cran[/B] of Herring ZLV ballast hopper waggons....remember the line in the folk song "Shoals of Herring"...a cran of the silver darlings..:D.

If you look at the "postings" number against this particular quiz and click on it, you will see a screen appear with the total number of postings that have been made by each contributor. Look at the number against my name....you will see that there is a finite limit to anyone's creativity.(I have made 218..you have made 115)

I have had this quiz resurrected on appeal just prior to your advent on this quiz (great as this has been), as the paucity of new postings had caused the new Quizmaster Triumvirate to lock it, under the new regulations. So I may well soon be coming to the end of my creative input on here, after the 20 or so I still have ready to post, have been used. I must say that the railway modelling, being railway in its ethos, have been a good source of new creativity.

Do you know of any members that you could ask to join in on the quiz, as I will now ration my postings to one a day on this quiz.

I use a similar system to yours for my own contributions, but my memory being far from photographic, I kept wanting to check that I was not repeating a previous idea. I did however remember your "salinity" one, the system made it much quicker to find.

I was actually going to offer you a "complete set" at some point as a souvenir since you have obviously enjoyed this quiz so much. I hope I have not spoiled the fun!

You will probably know the quiz regulars and other contributors to this forum much better than I do, but i did wonder if we could encourage some of those who joined in at the beginning to join in again. I will keep my eyes open though.

Thanks for your response to the points in my posting. With regard to your section above, I did send a PM to "those highest on the scorechart" when it looked like this quiz was to be "locked".

Anyway, my "one-a-day" will not start until tomorrow, so.....

Hopefully not done by someone else previously

(I note the that 92026 was "Benjamin Britten". Presumably it was permanently coupled to one called "Peter Pears.") :D
