No - all trains ran into Templecombe and reversed out again !

Are you sure? Most local trains reversed at Templecombe, but I thought the express trains, such as "The Pines Express" ran non-stop from Bath to Poole via Templecombe Lower Platform, which was also served by one or two very early morning and late evening services, and it is this Templecombe Lower Platform which is now closed.

Was there not a Stourpaine & Durweston Halt before Blandford Forum?

Location
A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
A most enjoyable last leg on our journeys. I have been given kind permission to set a new leg, so I will choose somewhere we have not visited.

We shall start at the open station of Malton (on the York to Scarborough line) then travel on the route of the Malton and Driffield Railway as far as the open station of Driffield, where we then travel on the route of the Driffield to Selby closed line to the final open station of Selby.

The first closed station is Settrington
