Saltney Ferry was opened by the LNWR on the line of the Chester to Holyhead Railway on 1st June 1891 and was closed on 30th April 1962.

In that case, the atlases: Ian Allan's Pre-Grouping Atlas & Gazetteer; Dewick; and Jowett; are all in error -- they all show Saltney Ferry station as just on the branch towards Kinnerton, Mold, etc. -- not on the main line. It could indeed be, that in this mistake, they've been copying each other and taking things for granted. Wiki indeed shows Saltney Ferry station as on the main line fair-and-square.
