Already posted two postings ago.....we still need the final closed station to be named.

Sorry -- I saw that I'd somehow "double-posted" Dawley & Stirchley; then the Internet went "down" in my locality, and I couldn't do anything to rectify matters.

Ninewells Junction (dates unclear)

Wikipedia quotes 1845 to 1846 but this seems unlikely since the railway wasn't opened into Dundee until May 1847 unless it was a temporary arrangement during completion. Two other sources say 1864 to 1865.

That is the name of a rail junction, not a railway station, on the Dundee and Arbroath Railway.

Re Camperdown Junction: Tony Dewick (of the "Complete Atlas...") thinks this was a station; but he thinks rather a lot of things which other people appear not to think. He also -- for what it's worth -- is in the considering- Ninewells-Junction-a-station camp (@DerekC -- sorry: I hung back here, and let you be the preceding vehicle which in times of trouble, runs ahead of the train proper, to detonate any mines laid under the track ;) ).

Hmm - a railway minesweeper is an interesting concept .. might need careful design!

Inchture

Historical note - a short horse operated tramway, opened in 1849, ran from Inchture station to Inchture village. It was closed in 1916 and the rails were indeed taken to France! (Remembering a recent suggestion on another thread).

Have read of this -- or things much like it -- on railways caught up in various conflicts. The fable of the mice putting the bell on the cat, comes to mind...
