When we were at Rawlinson Bridge, we were at the position of carrying on along the Lancashire Union Railway or to carry on along the line of the Bolton and Preston Railway which is the line next mentioned on the journey preamble (passing through the open stations of Adlington and of Blackrod)which then led onto the LYR Hilton House Branch Line. A couple of postings made after Rawlinson Bridge still unfortunately have carried on along the line of the Lancashire Union Railway in the Wigan-bound direction and these need to be struck-through.
