OBSERVATION
After Beamish, in the direction we are travelling, when I was designing this journey, the next closed station was Pelton (2nd station), then Vigo.

I sent Tim a PM shortly after realising that we had simultaneously posted, it appears that he is currently offline unfortunately.

Well, since those two closed stations have now been named, let us pretend they were in the correct order, so the next closed station will be....

Washington (2nd station .... 1850-1963)
Incidentally the station of Durham Turnpike is incorrectly positioned on the Wikipedia template for the Stanhope & Tyne Railway. It was actually at the point where the railway crossed the line of the Roman road heading for the Tyne crossing, between Pelton and Vigo and just east of the crossing of the ECML I recall checking this on OS maps. The Wikipedia entry for the station posittions it correctly in both absolute (Lat & Long) terms and relative to the stations either side of it.
