I left out Crieff Junction 1st site. The location suggested in Wikipedia is not credible as the current Gleneagles station is right on top of the former junction. The earliest map I can find shows the platforms on the main line only, but still underlying the northern end of the current station .

That particular matter was the crux of a very long discussion between some eminent railway historians on Wikipedia and the consensus reached was that the actual location was in itself further than where you state and on the other side of the junction.

It is interesting to note that on the discussion that the same panel held with regard to the original station of the first station at Hellifield, the consensus was that too was on the other side of a junction.

Gartsherrie Doubtful about this one. Did it have platforms on our route? I am not sure.

The line that particular station lay on was the Glasgow, Garnkirk and Coatbridge Railway which whilst adjacent to the line that we are traversing, did not also have platforms on the line we are using.

As a brief aside, the currently open station of Blairhill was originally known as Blairhill and Gartsherrie.

Sorry to have been a while in answering your query, but much source matter cross-referral was required.

Newly updated rules effective from December 2016

RULE 4

Stations that were closed and had their replacement station built in nearby proximity are NOT allowed to be used as a valid posting entry on this quiz (examples being that of the situation of the first station sites at Whifflet, Belper, Stourbridge Junction, Blue Pits (Castleton, Manchester), Lostock Hall, Tollerton and Church Stretton). Where a doubt exists as to the knowledge of an actual distance that existed between the two station sites in such a situation, it is hereby decreed that it is better to err on the side of caution and NOT to use it as a posting submission (The example of the situation existing at Whifflet (both the 1st station and the Low Level one) being a good example to cite here).

With regards to the matter of Whifflet, queries were made some years ago on this quiz, with its currently open station and the number of former stations in that town area, which caused a special mention of Rule 4 shown above, which is covered by the comments expressed in that particular rule.

Whifflet has had stations of the following railways:-
Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway
Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway
Caledonian Railway...this had Whifflet Lower (closed 1962) and Whifflet Upper (closed 1964)

There were two lines that were used in the area, that led to different junction connections further down both lines.

In the past, allowing for the confusion caused by such matters on the quiz when the stated line was said to be the Caledonian Railway Main Line, it has been the case to go from the closed station of Glenboig (which has already been posted on this journey) to the closed station of.....

Not sure about this one - it appears in one source but I can't find other evidence. There was certainly a siding but was it a station?

Update - looks OK - I have found some corroboration
