Having joined the short section of the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, from the previous line, in order then to access the line of the Derwent Valley Railway (County Durham), the line to use has it first closed station at....

Incidentally, Ryton was on the other line, but before it was reached, you had to pass through the open stations of Dunston and Blaydon first. The problem here is the approach line to the Derwent Valley Railway (County Durham) left that line between Dunston and Blaydon, so Ryton meant you had missed the connecting line junction.

Yes - apologies - got so involved in working out which way to go through Newcastle that I forgot where we were going! I would probably have ended up in Carlisle.

Indeed it would as it was only a matter of about 10 chains in distance away from the newer station site.

OK. Trying to work out what the criterion for inclusion (or not) is. Based on the examples in Rules 4 and 5 it seems to be about 400 metres (22 chains in old money). Is that a reasonable figure to keep in mind?
