The final closed station in Ashton before the final leg commenced was Ashton Moss...(Closed in 1862)
Fairfield station still has two open platforms on its site that are used by services from Manchester Piccadilly to Marple Rose Hill.

There was the main (if that can be applied) of the three stations on this relatively short link line which covers quite a sizeable town......

My map showed three railway stations on this branch line. One covering a sizeable settlement with two minor halts on either side. We are heading from Greenbank on the Mid-Cheshire Line towards Sandbach on the Crewe to Manchester line.
