Manod is the final closed station on this long journey.

Incidentally, as it will not be too long now before the Manchester Metrolink commences service on part of the former LYR Oldham Loop line (Manchester to Oldham, at least), I will have to incorporate this line in my next leg, which, fortunately is in its rotation to be an English journey

We move to North-West England this time, in order to use the LYR Oldham Loop line on this quiz, before the Manchester Metrolink officially uses reopened stations on that line.....To cater for the use of this (and to make life more interesting), this quiz will commence its journey with a CLOSED station (on a little discussed line these days), which the rules of this quiz demand is stated in its preamble

This quiz is number 54 so far.....Remember that there were two closed stations on the Oldham loop line many years prior to the recent line closure

The journey starts at the CLOSED station of Bacup.
It follows the line of the Rochdale to Bacup line
It then follows the the line of the LYR Oldham loop Line
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Leeds Railway
It then follows the line of the Manchester and Bolton Railway
It then follows the line of the Ribble Valley line (from its southern extremity... at Bolton)
It then follows the line of the Settle and Carlisle Railway
The journey ends at the open station of Carlisle

The first closed station, because of the special arrangements, is Bacup

REMINDER TO ALL CONTESTANTS

Do not forget that two of the stations on this loop line were closed in the 1960's.............very many years prior to the line being closed for conversion to Manchester Metrolink which is currently running some time behind schedule.
