I've found a 1910 source saying Windsor Bridge was goods only - not to say it wasn't for passengers earlier though

This is the reason why I said that you needed to look very deeply into the very early history of the Manchester and Bolton Railway documentation, which reveals a similarity to Manchester Oldham Road station on the Manchester and Leeds Railway.

Both of these railway stations were originally used for both passengers and for goods, but with the advent of better passenger facilities elsewhere, became goods stations when the new passenger facilities elsewhere were eventually developed.

Pendleton Or Pendleton Bridge - a confusing area this.

Two stations in the Pendleton area....one on the Manchester to Southport line referred to normally as Pendleton, but the thing to remind yourself is that the station on the Manchester to Bolton line and the following station both had the word "BRIDGE" in their station names.

So your "Pendleton Bridge" is correct, as we are on the Manchester and Bolton Railway

though there is a very tenuous argument for another one (London Road) before Citadel. Closed before the S&C opened - but it crosses the site. Perhaps we'll note it and ignore it

In answer to your query, I think that you will find that Carlisle London Road was originally constructed as a terminal station for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway.... which is not the line that we were using.

We shall decide that your comment has been noted and it is now time to decide which new journey to choose from out of the stock of these that is steadily accumulating in my study.
