A few years ago, one of our now-departed contributors found a short-lived (1986-1998) closed station of the modern era which was built for the 1986 Commonwealth Games (and also used for other special occasions) of the line of the three previous stations, so out of respect to him I will name......

Meadowbank Stadium

Note - I think we missed Slateford (1st station) on the Caledonian Main Line, before we diverged onto the Balerno Loop

As the currently open Slateford railway site has always occupied its present situation, your mention of a 1st station there could only refer to a station that opened in 1853 and closed in 1871, which was not on the current running line, but was situated to the east of the viaduct and served both the CR Redford Barracks Branch and the CR Gorgie Cattle Market Branch.

There have been past discussions on this very matter, which were never resolved to the best of my knowledge.
