A monument to a botched procurement!...but maybe not officially!

They're lined up very neatly to be unofficial. I would guess there was a press photo event happening and somebody took their own photo when an opportunity arose....but maybe not officially!

Given that for 10 locos there are 3 628 800 permutations of the order they could be arranged, I would say that 1 to 10 was done on purpose!Someone has done that on purpose no?
Have you actually worked that out haha?Given that for 10 locos there are 3 628 800 permutations of the order they could be arranged, I would say that 1 to 10 was done on purpose!
Had me wondering if it was AI .They're lined up very neatly to be unofficial. I would guess there was a press photo event happening and somebody took their own photo when an opportunity arose.
Given the results from the AI thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/mad-ai-generated-picture.289210/ I think it would have taken somebody just as long to get an AI to do it as if they'd gone and shunted the locos themselves!Had me wondering if it was AI .

I'm pretty certain that isn't Worksop Down Yard so they either moved them all from the Down Yard to the Up Yard without anybody apparently noticing or it is fake.Had me wondering if it was AI .
To me it looks like they are parked in front of the main building in Worksop Down Yard, with the mainline behind the green fence.I'm pretty certain that isn't Worksop Down Yard so they either moved them all from the Down Yard to the Up Yard without anybody apparently noticing or it is fake.

Certainly if someone arranged the locos 1 to 10 by chance, they should buy a lottery ticketYep! If you have a specified number of objects the total number of different orders in which they can be arranged is the factorial of the number of objects (factorials are expressed as [Number]!)
It might look like that to you but I'm positive you are wrong. There are so many things that suggest the "photo" wasn't taken there, including the number of tracks, the track layout, the absence of wooden poles and the background. To me it looks like they are parked in front of the main building in Worksop Down Yard, with the mainline behind the green fence.
I would say it looks genuine and could have been done for some publicity shots for ROG.
The track layout, fence, trees and viewpoint suggest the photo is taken from about here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NxCG2nP3ekKboPdi7. The Gantry with a signal (or similar, banner repeater?) on it is slightly throwing me though as there doesn't appear to be anything visible on google to match it to from that viewpoint and angle. It might look like that to you but I'm positive you are wrong. If you are so positive that I am wrong, where was the photo taken? It might look like that to you but I'm positive you are wrong. There are so many things that suggest the "photo" wasn't taken there, including the number of tracks, the track layout, the absence of wooden poles and the background.
I've already said. In fact you quoted the part where I said it when you came up with your theory. If you are so positive that I am wrong, where was the photo taken?
We've spent £50 million of new locomotives and look, we've got so little for them to do we can line the entire fleet up for a photo would be a strange a PR stuntHowever it seems an odd thing to go to that effort to fake, while ROG would presumably be quite happy to arrange a photocall if they had a big announcement of a customer for them to work trains for. Mind you in this day you never know.
Seeing they are still under going testing and verification, it's irrelevant if they have work lined up or not, as until they are signed off for proper use they can't be used, so perfectly fine to line them up and take a picture!I've already said. Where did you see/obtain the picture from?Nice pic at Worksop, this morning. In numerical order, as well! (Not my pic)
From what I've been told, the slow introduction is not necessarily ROGS fault, a lot is Network Rails.Whilst it's an interesting photo, it's also a reminder of how agonisingly slow the introduction of these machines has been .. 2 years and counting at present. I'd imagine Star Capital will be looking for some sort of ROI sooner than later.

Has always been thus with new locomotives. When 50050 was transferred to the Western Region in the early 70's, there was a letter in the Railway Magazine confidently stating it struggled light engine over the Devon banks. Even since then taken enthusiast speculative pronouncements on performance with a massive amount off cynicism until proven by actual performance figures. There are pages and pages upthread of enthusiasts confidently opining that it won't pull the skin off a rice pudding! 50mph up Shap hauling 2100t. It must have grown some extra axles!
Just checked with the friend that sent it to me, who’s well connected with ROG. He says an employee at the depot took the photo. It’s 100% not a fake.Seeing they are still under going testing and verification, it's irrelevant if they have work lined up or not, as until they are signed off for proper use they can't be used, so perfectly fine to line them up and take a picture!

Has the Class 88 played any part in making the testing of Class 93 & 99 any easier? From what I've been told, the slow introduction is not necessarily ROGS fault, a lot is Network Rails.
The fact the 99s started testing more or less as soon they arrived in uk is down to the work that has gone on with the 93s.
Is that what some random ROG bod said on Facebook? One would have thought if they do have work for them then some of them would be busy doing stuff in order to be accepted but if you think nasty Network Rail is forcing them to all sit at Worksop, enabling a photo, then it must be true.Seeing they are still under going testing and verification, it's irrelevant if they have work lined up or not, as until they are signed off for proper use they can't be used, so perfectly fine to line them up and take a picture!
No one said NR is forcing them to all sit at Worksop, seeing that they are out every day on testing/training runs!Is that what some random ROG bod said on Facebook? Same as what was given out at Long Marston rail live earlier this year.Attached below are some pictures taken from a small brochure given to people who had a cab ride in the 93 at Derby The Greatest Gathering.
It shows you detailed information about the loco, including Traction Curves and Braking Curves.
