Thanks.Yeah, south end
All at Aycliffe, keep appearing outside at factory then disappearing back inside.Has anyone seen 810011/12/13, or know of the progress on those? They should be, in theory, the next to move to Etches Park next month
Until I see a photo of them all lined up, I'll prefer to think that Hitachi wheels them in overnight and changes the unit numbers so we think there are more of them than there really are. It's been that sort of project. All at Aycliffe, keep appearing outside at factory then disappearing back inside.
All units up to 018 (excluding 002/017) have been seen 'complete' outside at Aycliffe.
005 and 007 are also still there remember.
Rumours say that some are cardboard cutouts on bogies.Until I see a photo of them all lined up, I'll prefer to think that Hitachi wheels them in overnight and changes the unit numbers so we think there are more of them than there really are. It's been that sort of project.
006 also needs work to be made ready for service.AIR that 06 and 10 will take over the trains runs while 03 and 04 return to Hitachi because they need work before they are ready for service?
03 and 04 are the Old Dalby test sets, so would have thought it more likely to be 08 and 09 on Etches Park driver training runs that they will take over from.AIR that 06 and 10 will take over the trains runs while 03 and 04 return to Hitachi because they need work before they are ready for service?
What does AIR stand for in this context?AIR that 06 and 10 will take over the trains runs while 03 and 04 return to Hitachi because they need work before they are ready for service?
As I recall, I presume. What does AIR stand for in this context?
Thanks, it wasn't obvious but that would make sense. As I recall, I presume.
Ah yes, probably this then - thanks.Or "am I right"
Interesting - May indicate that the next set of driver training diagrams is going to start this week:I saw 810009 parked in Kettering Stabling Sidings this morning ( Chance it may alternatively have been standing on the up slow line). Edit: Actually looking at Google Earth it may have been in the engineer siding next to the Up Slow.
I had a quick look on RTT for 3Axx head covers but couldn't see anything obvious about when it arrived and whether it's still there.
Appears to have been to Corby and back on 6th November see https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:26782/2025-11-06/detailed#allox_id=1I saw 810009 parked in Kettering Stabling Sidings this morning ( Chance it may alternatively have been standing on the up slow line). I am guessing that 803 is a typo for 810 ?Sighted one on test through Alsager last week from Old Dalby to Crewe. When are these going into service and on what diags, are there more test runs to Crewe planned.
803 at Alsager.
Or 003, as 003 and 004 are the test units based at Dalby.I am guessing that 803 is a typo for 810 ?
Yes, sorry. Photo was of 810003I am guessing that 803 is a typo for 810 ?

A new dawn breaks as Transport UK and EMR confirms first Aurora train will enter service this December
An exciting new chapter of Intercity travel will begin this December. Transport UK and East Midlands Railway (EMR) can confirm that the first Aurora train from EMR’s new £400 million fleet will enter service across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.
- Transport UK and EMR confirm first Aurora from new £400 million fleet will begin running this December
- New trains provide more seats, modern, spacious interiors and enhanced accessibility features
- The state-of-the-art Hitachi Rail built fleet will transform the experience of customers as they travel on the Midland Main Line
The state-of-the-art Hitachi Rail built fleet will transform the experience of customers as they travel on the Midland Main Line - providing more seats, modern, spacious interiors, improved air conditioning, free class leading WiFi, plug sockets at every seat and clear customer information screens.
The 33 train bi-mode trains will take advantage of the £1.5 billion Midland Main Line upgrade, with the ability to run on electric overhead lines - dramatically cutting carbon emissions by 66 per cent, meaning quieter and greener journeys too.
Each Aurora will provide customers 24 per cent more seats and over 19 per cent more legroom in a typical five carriage formation, compared to the Meridian trains it is replacing. Once the full fleet of 33 trains is in service, it will deliver a substantial 46 per cent increase in the total number of seats available for customers travelling on the Midland Main Line.
Avanti's Class 807 first ran in passenger service on 26 October 2024 as a soft launch, but the official launch took place in November. Perhaps there could still be an 810 soft debut on the 24th?Excerpt provided below as per forum rules:
I take this to mean that the previously mooted passenger service ’debut’ on 24/11/2025 (0700 off SHF) will not take place?
That's what I'm assuming.Sneak it/them into service, iron out any last-minute in-service snags, then invite the bigwigs down for the formal event. Lots of instances where doing it all on the first day was a bad idea (Leeds and Selby railway springs to mind).Avanti's Class 807 first ran in passenger service on 26 October 2024 as a soft launch, but the official launch took place in November. My post 4544 may have beaten you bothBeat me to it by a minute.
It was also posted on their social media - it states that the first services using the trains will begin this December.
So it did! Unfortunately when a post goes into the thousands of comments, it's hard to keep track of what has happened. My post 4544 may have beaten you both![]()
