Been a few times in the past days, it was expected down from NA
2 x Cancelled paths. Both times I've seen it after those cancelled paths it has been coupled up to another unit with lots of activity in cabs of each unit.

Here's a photo of one of the floor vinyls saying "coming soon", the "oo" in soon being a pair of headlights. EMR state that it's "Banksy style" artwork is designed to generate curiosity on the soon-to-enter-service Class 810s
I'd say it's designed to waste money on loads of plastic stickers that will do nothing but add to cleaning costs and the quantity of plastic in landfill.

That suggests that they're having difficulty in getting the units to reliably speak to each other.

Lots of "Coming soon Aurora" messages have appeared on the platforms at Nottingham when I walked through this morning.
Sheffield is also covered in them. They look like discarded flyers that have been dropped and then blown around the place and not been cleaned up.

Message to EMR Stakeholders this morning, Aurora into service in December

"We are pleased to share that East Midlands Railway (EMR) and our parent company, Transport UK, have confirmed that the first of EMR’s brand-new Aurora trains will enter service this December.

Built by Hitachi Rail, the 33 state-of-the-art bi-mode trains will take advantage of the £1.5 billion Midland Main Line upgrade, with the ability to run on electric overhead lines - dramatically cutting carbon emissions by 66%, and delivering quieter, greener journeys for customers.

Each Aurora will provide:
  • 24% more seats and 19% more legroom (in a five-carriage formation)
  • Plug sockets and USB points at every seat
  • Free, class-leading Wi-Fi and improved mobile signal strength through new glass technology
  • Modern, spacious interiors with improved lighting and accessible design
  • Increased luggage space (up to 136% more capacity)
Once the full fleet of 33 trains is in service, it will deliver a substantial 46% increase in the total number of seats available for customers travelling on the Midland Main Line.

The introduction of this £400 million fleet marks a major milestone for Intercity travel across the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Greater Lincolnshire.

We, along with our colleagues at Transport UK, are delighted to be delivering a railway that our customers, communities and employees can truly take pride in."

"We wanted to share this exciting news with you and will provide more information about the Aurora launch in due course."

I wonder how that 46% increase in seats would look if compared against the number prior to the HSTs being withdrawn?

There would still be a significant increase as a 10-car 810 has 602 seats, compared to around 470 on a 2+8 HST.

The 46% is overall capacity increase across the fleet. Which presumably lost quite a lot of capacity when the HSTs were withdrawn.

Worth remembering that it should be the 810+360 6tph capacity compared with the old 222+HST 5tph capacity.

Somewhat cheekily they look to comparing the current situation with the first 222 already gone. I make it 39% if you include that additional 7-car set.

They do exist!
As promised, a couple of 810010 passing through Rotherham today, just before the sun came out half an hour later for the Ely-Booths scrap 465s.

Has the 25th of November run been dropped? Or still planned but no fanfare so as not to attract negative comments if it doesn't manage to run?
It would be weird for that to have changed so quickly. Does anyone know?

Yes it’s 810 003 & I think 810 004 ( Didn’t quite catch the set number on the first set). Sorry the picture isn't great but that’s it arriving into Chetserfield.
Well, you got more than I did when it flew under the A6 at Duffield. I'm sure someone will confirm the lead unit.
