As for the paintwork...youve get thet with every new coat of paint...you ought to have seen the DRS 37s fresh out of the paintshop in the works in aug...
But im still sticking to my guns...It really is a loco thats worse than the 60 in design...and will forever remain as FUGLY.....
Just wondering how you reckon they look fuel efficient just by the looks of them!
I have to admit, they are starting to grow on me too - can't wait to see/hear one in action.

No idea, but the word from FLHH is they're getting a 30% fuel saving on the Rugeley turn over a 66.

I didn't like the look of them at first, but like many have said, they grew on me too. I saw two of them properly today for the first time (at ipswich) and I can say I accually liked the look of them. they make the 66s look like Scrap.

That cab is an absolute f***ing mess (click).
Two HUGE screens, presumably for the TMS, and the smallest AWS sunflower I have ever seen. The DSD pedal also looks way too small and only just about big enough to keep my toes on. I certainly wouldn't want to keep that b*stard pressed down the whole way from Basford Hall to Felixstowe. As for the location of what I'm assuming is the emergency brake plunger, well where do I begin. OK, so it's out of the way of everything else and shouldn't get pushed in error, but it's also out of the driver's line of sight. If you really need to use it you shouldn't be casting around looking for it because you'll be wasting valuable seconds. Put it where the driver can bloody well see it, for chrissakes.

That AWS size is standard kit now,part of the TPWS/AWS fitment our 360's are the same size, not sure about that DSD pedal, i suspect that the whole plate is the reset plate an not just the black plastic bit, tho i do agree it does look a bloody mess!, those screens could have been put next to each other in front of the driver with TPWS/AWS panels in front, the EM plunger needs to be set further back, and whats going on with that conduit cover in front of the side window??!
The actual DSD pedal looks to be the raised black part with the surrounding being the foot rest. The fact thats its raised should make operating it alot easier and as you really only need to rest one foot on it, the size seems ok. Thers also nothing to interfere with it unlike the 66 as the pedal often gets stuck due to movement of one of the electrical covers directly behind/ontop.

4F02 Garston to Ellesmere Port
6F02 Ellesmere Port to Fiddlers Ferry
4F03 Fiddlers Ferry to Ellesmere Port
6F03 Ellesmere Port to Fiddlers Ferry
4F04 Fiddlers Ferry to Garston
(all trains reverse at Latchford sidings)
Meanwhile, 60s only have a few more days of operation left
on the Fiddlers Ferry circuit, but there are no daytime turns on
a Thursday, so Friday and Saturday may prove to be the first
and only opportunity to see 60s and 70s working side by side
in the Warrington area!

aparantly i have been told that DBS are to withdraw the last of the class 60's and replace them with their own order for class 70's according to rumours

There are minature sunflowers on most of the stock I work and it isn't a problem.Im used to it so it doesn't bother me and I do check it regulary probably mre regulary than I ever used to.
Brake plungers on a Desiro aren't much of a prob (although I did have the one on the SM side pressed by accident when the train lurched to the right) but the one shot sander on 159s were a pain.I was involved in 2 incidents where this was pressed by accident due to poor placement of the button so any button out of the way is fine by me.Thankfully they have discontinued the one shot sand lark as the 158s and 159/1s dont have them fitted but the 159/0s did.
