I would of assumed the locos will be delivered via the Chunnel? As for an ETA I didn't think the first loco was due to arrive until early 2014.

Aren't they being built at the same location as the 67s? Which were delivered to Newport I understand.

Correct, later this year as stated below from the Wkipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vossloh_Eurolight

United Kingdom - UKLightOn 5 January 2012 Direct Rail Services announced an order for fifteen 160 km/h (99 mph) EuroLight UK locos for intermodal and passenger work with a 3,750 horsepower (2,800 kW) C175-16 engine to be delivered in 2013, with options for more. They will be designed to fit the small loading gauge in the UK, and will be manufactured at Vossloh España's plant in Valencia, Spain, with an expected delivery date of late 2013.[9][13] The value of the contract is around €70 million.[14]

Vossloh's product name for the design is UKLIGHT.[15]

When they say late 2013, I am suspecting mid to end of of October for the first to arrive. But that is just a guess on my part.

I cant remember what railway magazine it is in, but it states 68001 frame has started cutting, with the aim to the first completed train within the next 2-3 months. (I can pop into Smiths tomorrow and remind myself of what magazine?)

I seem to recall back in January 2012 when the locos were announced, the plan was for 68001 and 68002 to be tested extensively on a test track at Velim, Czech Republic in the Spring and delivered to the UK late Summer 2013.

There is an interesting topic on the UKLight: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=72032

Hope that tag-on orders from Chiltern and other DB member companies (Cross Country take note!) will follow DRS's order.
no need for Chiltern to order any. Correct me if im wrong but 67s were designed for 125mph running, but limited to 100 because of issues with weel wear and brakes? Although the 68s may have better acceleration, im sure if Chiltern were really worried about it, they'd have had the 67s re geared already. However, would not mind an order! Are the 68s to be fitted with tdm?

Chiltern have shown an interest in new locomotives, however necessary they may (or not) be.

I swear they've shown more than an interest and have issued a tender for locomotives. Though maybe my memory is letting me down.

I vaguely seem to recall that too. And despite my (tender?) age my memory is shockingly poor...

There was an article in the June 27 - July 10th edition of Rail magazine last year that suggested that Chiltern where targeting to buy 100mph locomotives as th deal with DB Shenker for the hire of Class 67's expires at the end of 2014, so Chiltern want the loco's available as from the beginning of 2015.

Then the natural order of selection must be a tag-on order of class 68's.I personally wouldn't mind seeing a few examples for ScotRail too!

Nope. A 67 will do 125. Chiltern limitations are by the linespeed of the route (100 max) and the DVT (110 max, but moot because of the linespeed)
