And I almost thought they were stopped there for a quick Maccy D's
Not their fault there were engineering works at Chertsey
458510 and another unit were on the 1925 Waterloo to Windsor on Sunday 28th.
They can come up the main dude,no law against it.![]()
Some oik has chucked silver paint at the side of 458502 while it was passing somewhere , been like that for a few days.
No. But there should be!![]()
You can have the 456's mate.(Although they look quite cute)
Now I definitely know you need therapy, especially when you say a 456 is cute.
I thought this was a thread about the 458/5s, isn't there a separate thread for the 456s?
Or do I have to go to the 456 thread to get any info about the 458/5s?![]()
Perhaps they don't do this because as bad as it is, they feel it's better than not running the trains. Poster campaign to catch the criminals isn't a bad idea though. It's not the only one. There are several like it and there's a few damaged 455s with silver & multi-coloured paint jobs too.
The 10 car & 8 car stored in Guildford's £2½m North Box sidings have been vandalised 3 times now to a very serious extent. In fact to such an extent that its caused several cancellations and several stock moves to Wimbledon Park overnight because of the profanities on the side of the stock!
I just wish that fleet would have the balls to follow Southern's stance on it and pull the units and cancel a few trains and then do posters showing why & what the damage was and asking for help in catching the culprits.
Yesterday was a bad day for me on the 458/5's,but I will return fitter/stronger.![]()
8526 came down Saturday for commissioning. Extra vehicle is 74442.
8015 split for trip north on lorries.
Cheers for that info - any confirmation of the extra vehicle in 458518?
Oh dear what did you do?![]()
I was quite surprised to pass a standard 458/0 still in service on Saturday - Which units are left before their trip to Doncaster? I'll admit that I was equally quite surprised to spot a single 458/5 in service at around 23:30 on Saturday night in Weybridge too.

On Saturday there seemed to be a number of single 458/5 units on the via Hounslow services, along with 450 pairs, plus 450122 covering for a failure of a 458/5. There was also a 455 pair to Reading.
There are still 10 original 458 units left in London, which means we've passed the point where all off peak diagrams cannot be covered by 458s alone (even if assuming all units were in service at the same time). Must admit I thought more were left, although was aware of the second point :P.
There does seem to be more class 450's on the Reading service when available.
Oh definitely.Isn't there just 3x458 sets working the Reading road now? (Roughly)
