It's not the only one. There are several like it and there's a few damaged 455s with silver & multi-coloured paint jobs too.

The 10 car & 8 car stored in Guildford's £2½m North Box sidings have been vandalised 3 times now to a very serious extent. In fact to such an extent that its caused several cancellations and several stock moves to Wimbledon Park overnight because of the profanities on the side of the stock!

I just wish that fleet would have the balls to follow Southern's stance on it and pull the units and cancel a few trains and then do posters showing why & what the damage was and asking for help in catching the culprits.

I thought this was a thread about the 458/5s, isn't there a separate thread for the 456s?
Or do I have to go to the 456 thread to get any info about the 458/5s?

Perhaps they don't do this because as bad as it is, they feel it's better than not running the trains. Poster campaign to catch the criminals isn't a bad idea though.

I'm surprised people would do such a thing in Guildford. Is their CCTV to record it being done so they have evidence?

I was quite surprised to pass a standard 458/0 still in service on Saturday - Which units are left before their trip to Doncaster? I'll admit that I was equally quite surprised to spot a single 458/5 in service at around 23:30 on Saturday night in Weybridge too.

The 458/5's have been used to quite late on the services to Windsor before now.

On Saturday there seemed to be a number of single 458/5 units on the via Hounslow services, along with 450 pairs, plus 450122 covering for a failure of a 458/5. There was also a 455 pair to Reading :D.

There are still 10 original 458 units left in London, which means we've passed the point where all off peak diagrams cannot be covered by 458s alone (even if assuming all units were in service at the same time). Must admit I thought more were left, although was aware of the second point :P.

There does seem to be more class 450's on the Reading service when available.

Oh definitely.Isn't there just 3x458 sets working the Reading road now? (Roughly)

I did see two class 450 sets in multiple at lunch time, before seeing the two class 458/5 in multiple going the other way, which was within a few minutes followed by two class 455's in multiple going to wards London.

The ten x 458/0 in use are the ten units not listed in post 2629 above, which only shows 26 of the eventual total of 36...

Another tough day on the 458/5s,not so much due to the units themselves but due to the fact I was involved in a road traffic accident on the way in.

458511 and 458535 both behaving as good as gold.;)
