Oh Christ,that's horrendous...today? Sorry for the driver and punters.I doubt if it will be the 17:52 unless they take the unit out of service.They may have a Cover driver for the next part of the job after grub break.(Which isn't the 1752)

I normally let the punters off first,I've done that job before.

Not sure any passengers were on it, unless they were too slow to leave before the doors got closed in order to attach, and I'm not aware of the platform number being advertised at any point. The doors had been released again before they realised what had happened, and it seemed a nearby member of crew saw me and my brother looking at it, before taking a look himself and shaking his head while looking at the dispatcher! Not good for the driver . The next two services, 1752 Weybridge and 1937 return, were cancelled, and Real Time Trains suggests the platform was blocked for about 2 hours (the length of time the platform 19 number doesn't appear next to any service).

An empty 10 car set went through Vauxhall which I assumed was the cancelled Weybridge service a couple of minutes before it was due.

Possibly Depends on if the overiders came into contact with the buffer stop before the coupling did. May then be a case of replacing the coupling and checking over the corridor which has some contact with the stop as well.

Apart from that unit how many of the "old style" units are left? I'm wondering if 8015 might be booked to do the Juniper railtour which must be coming up fairly soon

Someone mentioned in the thread about the tour that there might be a few tickets available (probably as a result of a few people cancelling), might be worth contacting UKRailtours just in case there are the odd tickets available.

There's probably a chance that you'll end up being the driver for part of its journey anyway

That's a lot further back in the yard than when I photographed it on the 30th March! So they do seem to have been moving it around within the yard.

Unfortunately I was using my film camera that day so I haven't got the picture yet... I did my picture from the footbridge; it was only about one or two car lengths back from the bridge then.

I think they are supposed to move it every now and again anyway.Shunter told me it could move about the yard.

I walked past it and never noticed. I saw the do not move board at the side, but was deciding whether to run to platform 20 for the Reading 16:50 service or take my time and get the 16:58 Windsor from platform 18.

I came in via the gates at platform 19 so was very close.

In the end I sat in a nice first class compartment on the Windsor.

I believe there were 458/5 units out today, as at least one diagram (possibly two) were showing 5 coaches instead of 10 (along with a Reading being 4 instead of 8). Not aware of anything at Twickenham, but there was the Oxford v Cambridge university boat race on the Thames. Matters not helped by a signalling problem at Queenstown Road, which for a time saw stopping services start from Clapham Junction, the Windsor services diverted via Wimbledon and Kingston, and the Reading services diverted via Wimbledon and Weybridge.

On Thursday I got 458531 (with 458502 as part of a 10-car, 2015 from Waterloo) where again both toilets in my unit were not working. Both had the engaged light flashing and the open button for the accessible one was lit but not working. The small toilet wasn't locked and was overflowing, nor did any of the electrics work (tap, flush etc). Had to tell the guard when I got off at Hounslow so he could lock it out of use.

Its to stop the bearings getting small flats on them caused by the vibrations of passing trains, it does take quite a while for it to happen though.

The 47s stabled/abandoned at Cardiff a few years ago suffered from that hence the slow speed move to where they could be transferred onto the back of lorries.

So here's a weird one.Working up road to Wimbledon from Hampton Court in a 455 a Class 47 with two barrier wagons passes me down road towards Raynes Park.So we terminate at Wimbledon as booked and work it over the LUL to Clapped Out Yard.Drop guard off at Clapham Junction Windsor Side.Draw forward to get behind dummy and change ends.Just as I get up the other end to work it into Clapham Yard a Class 47 with two barrier wagons passes me down the freight and 378 line to West Brompton direction.

How the hell did it do that so fast?

There can't be two Class 47 sets with barrier wags and did it really get round the Kingston Loop that fast?

Im baffled. Im sure im missing something here.
