458025 left tonight northward behind a 66.

Didn't know what the 458 (although you just said) was but the 66 was 66848.I was on the 455 (Which was supposed to be a 458) which had come from Reading and I took it to Wimbledon yard.66848 was pushing the 458 around the big bully right in front of my eyes and pushed it to the second barrier wagon.458009 was also in attendance nearby.

I took a 459 ten car to Clapham yard later (cant remember the numbers) and ended up having to wait half an hour for the last train.So I popped into Clapham Yard to talk to the shunter.He wanted me to shunt a 459 from ten to nine road...then slipping in slightly later that he also wanted me to couple the 459 I had shunted to another 459 making it very tight for me to catch the last train.The 0102 from Clapham Junction Plat 4 to Waterloo.While in the shed I bumped into 458503 literally with its nose poking out the shed and 458504 which was in the shed on 11.I managed to make it to the last train with four minutes to spare.

On my count there were at least six 459 units in Clapham.

YESTERDAY:
I went down to split a desiro (as it said on the diagram but it was actually a 459 which turned up) and I was waiting for it on Platform 15.It was late in due to cab door interlock trouble reported by the guard.So the fitter was there but NFF.So I did my first split which is easier than coupling them and it went out again.Then later on on platform 19 I had to couple up the 459's and had no problems...(for the 1615 Hounslow.Have heard they have had problems coupling on 19 due to the curves.If the problem persists I guess they will change the booked platform.Back on them Monday.Also 458536 seems to be around a lot now when im working these units.

I don't really know myself,although there were quite a few around I haven't been down to Windsor on one for quite a while,then again I haven't been to Windsor that often recently anyway.

Not sure if the class 458 with the moustache in Juniper Drivers profile photo is the only train like this, but I saw it at about 2pm today at Martins Heron station doing I believe a service to Waterloo.

I was on the path below the station on my cycle on the down side to Reading when I saw the train arrive.

Was at Weybridge (Bay) with 458531+458536 (Getting on 536 quite a bit at the moment)...Signalman called me up to put the signal back because well I actually thought one was coming from Addlestone to cross in front of mee but one was actually crossing from the down main to go via Chertsey.When I glanced up it was 458520+458530 on a testrun.Im sure all the doors were locked out.On approaching Staines with my train I think it was coming the other way meaning it must have gone into Staines up loop.

Yes it turned up at Feltham as the 8:35, I declined to try and board it and waited for the 8:46 where I got a seat even though itbusier than normal.

I remember working a 4 car back from Reading in the rush hour and the punters having a go at me.

Even in the days of the slimmers, 4-car was a pain in the evening peak. Trying to get from Twickenham to Reading with luggage at 1730 on a single 4-CEP was quite a challenge!

Lower geared but with an extra trailer coach,not a lot in it I think.

I think the 458/5s accelerate slower, but do get up to speed pretty fast...you can feel the weight when braking though, bit more push than the 458/0s. It is odd having the female voice on the PIS though!

As we approach May we approach the month in which the new hybrid Class 458 units are delivered and enter service. I'd imagine that Mays issue of modern railways will have some images of them and with articles like this surely it won't be long until we see the finished product compete with its 450 style front end?

I am (almost) confused by the front /rear ends, identical to 450's, tell tale sign is the it's a 458 - drip rail above vestibule doors. Is therre callaboration with Siemens for the remodeling?

None that I am aware of. The gangway supplier may be the same but other than that no link with siemens. They are easy to tell apart. Numbering location and colour. Headlights different. As is the whole cab... Plus they sound pretty different too.
